I have a bit of a ridiculous fear, wondering if anyone else had this?

Or can shake me out of it.

I look really young. Like, annoyingly so. I'm almost 27 and I get carded regularly, and have more than a few times been mistaken for a high school student. One time we went to the ER for DH and I had no makeup on and the triage nurse goes "well you're too old to be his daughter....". DH is 4.5 years older than me but he doesn't look that old! It was awful.

I know I shouldn't care but I'm so worried I'm going to get dirty looks when I'm pregnant - like people are going to think I'm a teen mom.

Anyone else go through this or just want to point and laugh at me for being ridiculous? Chat Icon

im sorry hun but Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

im small and look young too. at 31 i still get carded often. i do have to say that when i was pregnant i didn't get too many dirty looks. the thought did cross my mind that people might think i was a teen mom, but it didnt bother me at all cause i really don't care (and am generally oblivious to) what people think.

honestly while it is a legitimate thought, i wouldnt really let it bother you. it is what it is and im sure by now you are well used to people thinking you are much younger than you are.

I totally know it's ridiculous! I think I just needed to get it out so I could actually see how ridiculous it sounded. Chat Icon

It is NOT ridiculous. At least, I have the exact same fear! I look so young and I think people are going to judge me and think I'm a 15 year old. I'm 27 also, and people say I look 16.

I was recently at the doctor with my mom when she told a nurse that I was cooking thanksgiving dinner for the family and the nurse says "Oh how cute! How old are you, 16?" When I told her I was 27 she was shocked and said I looked 16, 18 tops. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I HATE this. Everyone says we will appreciate looking young when we are older, but for now this sucks!

YES YES YES! Exactly! Thank you. I get so tired of the looks and comments when I mention my husband. I was picking some stuff up at the bakery and this woman has never seen me before and when I said something like "my husband likes these kind" she goes "you have a husband?!?!?! How old are you?" I try to laugh it off but it's so annoying!

I had the same problem. People always think I look very young even now at 37. I was 32 when I was pregnant with my DD and I did get looks but what can you do? People are going to think what they're going to think. Don't worry about it. Chat Icon

I know what you mean. At 27 I still get carded for everything. I was pregnant with my twins at 24 and I always found myself making it a point to attract attention to my e-ring and wedding band! Or purposely saying "My husband..."

I get dirty looks all the time.. and now I cant wear my wedding rings so people think I am a teen mom!! lol. Twice I have heard Im too young to be pregnant at the stores and when I tell them Im 32 ther mouth drops!! lol. It happens and I just shrug it off but it is super annoying and I feel people are gonna judge regardless! :(

I'm so glad I'm not alone.

I figure when the time comes I'll just cut a bish if anyone dares open their mouth to me Chat Icon And then blame it on pregnancy hormones.

Nope, not ridiculous at all! I sometimes imagine myself with a belly, and feel as if I'm on an episode of 16 and pregnant (I'm 27 too). It just means you're going to be a MILF Chat Icon

HA! Sorry but I chuckled a little.

I just turned 30 and will be having my first child in Sept. I look like i'm about 18 and am still a size small in juniors clothing and rarely wear makeup.
When I was getting my hair done for my wedding 2 years ago several women in the salon asked me what H.S. I went to and what prom I was going to. Basically I just told them I was 28 (at the time) and not only did it shut them up, but then I kept getting complimented on how young I look for my age and what great hair I had. If I keep getting compliments everytime someone finds out my real age then why not?! lol

I take it as a positive. There are 18 yr olds who look my age and although they may appreciate it now, they def. won't in the future.

Crashing to say when your time comes and you become a mommy, the comments don't stop. I get looks all the time when Im with DS, and one woman in a store asked me if I was a babysitter. When I told her my age (29), and that he was mine she said I look 18. I personally don't think I look that young, but I almost gave her a hug, she made my day!! Lol

Re: I have a bit of a ridiculous fear, wondering if anyone else had this?

I haven't gotten too many comments, but I definitely get looks. I'm almost 36! But I'm short, under 5 feet so I guess that alone makes me look young.

A few years ago my sister got some comment about the tragedy of teen moms today. She was like 33 at the time!

I try to take it as compliment and not get too upset over it.

Re: I have a bit of a ridiculous fear, wondering if anyone else had this?

I get comments when people look at me and see I have a e-ring/wedding ring. The woman at the bagel store by me I've been going to for years recently noticed my rings and said she always thought I was a kid.

Eh. I'm not worried about what people will think. I'll proudly walk around with my baby and people will talk if they want to talk. I'm no kid... I'm 28. So really .. let people talk ... but you will be judged for A LOT more as a mom for the rest of your life so may as well get used to it with the stuff that doesn't matter at all.

Truth. It's weird because I normally don't care much what people think. I guess this is preying on my own insecurities and fears about becoming a Mommy, you know?

hahaha. I got nasty looks all the time. Guess it didn't help that I'm a 5 footer and wore a cap every time I would go out.
One time I took my cap off to show some old broad all my gray hair. I said "SEEEEEEEE I'M 36" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I used to feel that way. Then I had baby bear. And I'm pretty sure she aged me and now I won't need to worry about it with #2 Chat Icon

I am SURE the same thing is going to happen to me. People always say they think I'm in HS and I got weird looks and people thought I was joking when I was planning my wedding. I was the scandal of the nail salon until I told them I was getting married at 29, not 16.

i'm glad I'm not the only one

No one questions if I have a husband or not, and I rarely get carded. I didn't even get carded when I was actually underage. I guess I look old, lol.

I have a bit of a ridiculous fear, wondering if anyone else had this?

I was really worried about this when I had my first. I was only 28 and I look young. I am small so that doesnt help either.
When my wedding rings got to tight, thats when I worried. I had them off for two days and felt like people were giving me looks. I bought a fake set and personally felt better. I did the same with my DS2.
In all honestly, i wish i didnt care, but it bothered me.
