If your dc climbed out of the crib
Did you switch them to a toddler bed after they only did it once or did you wait until they did it again.
Twins are 2. Ds climbed out today. New baby is due in 7 weeks. Wwyd?

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
DS is 3 1/4 and still in his crib. He threw himself out (and I mean, full force, tossed himself over the rail) when he was having a meltdown one night at around 15 months. I freaked out and thought about switching then, but felt he was too little. He's never done it again. If he really wanted to, I'm sure he could climb down now, but he doesn't. We asked him if he wants a big boy bed...he says no.
To answer, I guess I'd say not necessarily. Unless you wanted to use the crib for the new baby, I might wait and see if he does tries again.

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
I switched DD from the crib to the toddler bed shortly after she started climbing out.
At first, I thought it might be a one time thing or something she was going to do rarely. However, she did it just about every time she was in the crib. There were times when I would put her down and turn around and she was right there behind me (that's how fast she was doing it). We finally relented after about 3 weeks and put her in her own bed and there was adjustment. She was ready for it.

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
My DS climbed out a month after he turned 2. DH and I panicked and went out and got him a toddler bed. I spent the next YEAR trying to keep him in the bed and I wound up having to sleep in the room with him. We already said if our next two try that at such a young age we would try to keep them in there a while longer...

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
My SIL switched the cribs to toddler beds the next day because my niece climb out of her crib two days straight and she didn't want her twin sister doing the same.

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
Thanks everyone! I am going to wait and see what happens. If he does it again i am just going to switch them to toddler beds and get it over with before the baby comes.
Hopefully it was a one time thing...but I am not holding my breath. DD told me what her brother did as soon as I walked in the door today so now they have the thought in their heads.

DD climbed out and we waited another day (of course I didn't sleep all night waiting to hear her hit to floor). She climbed out the next morning and we converted that afternoon. She is 21 months.

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
DD has been climbing out since October. She can do it safely so we havent gotten a bed yet. Mostly bc we dont want to spend the money on it just yet and bc that means she's becoming a big girl and I want to keep her a baby. ;) But I will probably be ordering one next month.

If your dc climbed out of the crib
Is the back of the crib taller than the front? If so, try turning the crib around.

Yes it is..I thought about this. I can do it but the way the room is set up it will be very hard for me at 8 months pregnant to get him in and out of the crib.

Re: If your dc climbed out of the crib
I don't give it much longer before my dd climbs completely out of her crib. We've already decided once she is able to get out of her crib we will get her a twin bed and put the rails on it.

If your dc climbed out of the crib
My DS was 11 months the first time he climbed out, and a few months older the next time. He is 7 now, so we still had a drop side crib. First we lowered the mattress all the way down and left the crib side down so if he did climb out, he didn't get hurt. Then we just removed the crib side so it was like a toddler bed with three high sides. We went right to the twin mattress around 2 1/2 y/o because he was just too tall for a crib.
