BTDT Moms- Convertible Cribs?
Is this a better choice than traditional cribs?

It depends if you're only looking to buy a crib vs something that will later become your child's bed.

Yes I think they're worth it even if u don't use them as a full bed u get use out of the crib and then they convert to a toddler bed and that is convenient in itself I just finished using my firsts convertible crib she's going on 5 and she's now in a twin if I would've had more room and less children lol I could've made it into a full for her

I have one but dd is still in the crib so I can't comment on the transition part yet... But I figure if something should happen and she just doesn't want that bed for whatever reason, it could always be used in a spare room...

Re: BTDT Moms- Convertible Cribs?
Definitely worth getting the convertible crib......... At least for us. My DD is 4y 4m old and she's still very comfortably sleeping in her converted crib. The only reason we just bought her a twin bed is because we need the crib for the new baby otherwise we would continue to leave her in there. Down the road, teen years, if she wants a bigger bed she could use the crib pieces for a full size headboard and footboard.

Our is a convertible but I did not buy the rail. I am not sure we will use it as a toddler bed etc. Most of the cribs these days are convertible so we just picked one we liked.

Both of my kids have convertible cribs, they are in great shape still and are/will be their furniture until they grow up.

Thanks girls.
One other question...Is it difficult to convert the crib?
My DH is no Bob Vila (yes I just referenced Bob Vila ) and I'm worried about him being able to safely take the crib apart and put it back together!

I am getting the convertible crib.. I dont have much experience with it since tis my first but I hear this is the best way to go if you want to use for a toddler bed. I don't think it is that difficult to put together once it turns inot a toddler bed but my DH is pretty handy so not that worried.. I say go for it!:)

Nope, it's easy. You basically unscrew the front rail panel and replace it with the toddler rail. Took DH a few minutes.

Re: BTDT Moms- Convertible Cribs?
Not sure it can be said that one is better, just depends on what you need and like, and how long you want it for. For us, we purchased a convertible crib. I liked that it converted into a toddler bed and then into a full (or queen, not sure). I love DS' furniture and quality and we were willing to spend on something we fully expect DS to use for many, many years. We are expecting our 2nd and will be going the same route. I will not be giving DC2 DS' furniture but instead will be buying an entire new set.
