Will - guardianship
Does anyone mind sharing how much they paid for having thier will changed to add guardianship for children?
We did our will before we had kids and my lawyer said it would be $700 to change our will to add children. I know its something important but we really dont have that kind of money and it would take us a long time to save it.
Are there any programs that offer legal assistance to low income families?

Re: Will - guardianship
I know $700 is a lot of money but don't think its unreasonable for a lawyer to charge that to change your will. Until you have the money, why not write up a document on your own and have it notarized, then staple it to the will. That should suffice until you can have the whole will redone.
To answer your question, many employers offer a legal service as a benefit. I think I pay ~$15 a month, and it includes writing a will.
Or ask your lawyer how much it will cost to add a codicil to your will. I know when I wanted to do that to my mother's will, it was like $225. That's basically just adding a document to the will, not changing everything to include the children.
