Delivering at South Nassau?

I'm wondering if anyone plans on delivering or has delivered at South Nassau.

Even though I'm one of the last of my friends to be pregnant, everyone has either delivered at Winthrop or LIJ (Katz and Manhasset) but S. Nassau is so much closer then all the others.

thoughts?

TIA

I am delivering at South Nassau and so is my friend who is due a week before me. My BFF delivered there October 2011, She raves about it. If it's closer why not??? I'm definitely comfortable with my decision!!! I have a ton of friends who delivered there and loved it!

Re: Delivering at South Nassau?

I had my baby there in 2010. I loved it!!! Every step of the process was amazing. I am in the medical field so I have experience with lots of hospital and l&d units. The nurses where amazing, they could not do enough for me. The private rooms are large and great, you get a menu and you get to pick what ever you want for each meal, there is a room on the floor that has coffee, tea, juice, snacks, open 24 hours a day, free wifi. Great Experience!! My nephew was also born there and ended up in the NICU and they also said that they care was amazing.

I was going to mention the NICU....It's new as of 2011 and I had friends who loved the care they received.....hopefully i won't need that....but it's nice to know it's available!

It was ok, but it was sooooo late 7:30 on a Thursday in a dark room (they showed a slideshow) with a bunch of people who just worked all day? Yea it was sleepy time LOL they just went over stuff and procedures. I was really only interested in the maternity wing.
I wanted to, but time really got away from me!

I have friends who have delivered there and loved it. We have visited them, it was very nice, clean, etc.

I personally wanted to deliver at a hospital that had a NICU... if there is something wrong with the baby, S Nassau has the baby brought to another hospital.

The ob I saw the other day is Dr. Tomlinson in RVC. I'm trying to decide if I like him or not lol. My only concern is the office he's in doesn't answer the phone, like ever. Everything is an automated system asking you to leave a voicemail under different categories. I don't like that. If I call I expect to speak to SOMEONE!

Regardless I think I want to stick with someone who delivers at S. Nassau.

That's my doctor! haha! Actually Dr. Oh is my doctor but I've seen him more than I've seen her. I love him, I can tell he is probably only for some people though! I've never had an issue with them picking up the phone, but I did get put on hold for 10 minutes when I asked to talk to a doctor, I just hung up and forgot about it. My GYN is Dr. Carinci in Wantaugh and no one compares to that office, so on top of things....but unfortunately she no longer does OB. See if you can ge tan appointment with Dr. Oh, she is great as well.....

Re: Delivering at South Nassau?

I delivered at South Nassau in June and had a very positive experience there. No complaints, and I loved having my own room.

If you're looking for an OB, I see Dr. Melissa Glasser-Caine in RVC, and she's fantastic!

Yes the tour was after the slideshow. If they had just had the tour (which was about 20 minutes) I would have left immediately. The slideshow+tour we didn't get out of there till close to 9pm

Not pregger but delivered there in 2009 & had a NICU baby. Nothing but raves. The care both my DS & I received was great. I was so upset that I did not deliver my second DS there in 2010
