Fever/teething...myth or true?
DS is 9 months and teething bad..he has none yet, but is constanly pulling on his gums.. Tonight he had a fever of 101 rectal..he was in good spirits, laughing he ate etc.. I gave him tylonal and 45 min. later it was under 100 and he went to bed.
He has no congestion..seems otherwise ok...any thoughts? Could this be from his teeth? I am just concerned that something more serious could be brewing..

From what I can tell, doctors tell you it's a myth. Moms tell you it's true.
So... it's up to you who you believe. Hope your DS feels better soon!

I believe my dr said under 101 could be teething but over usually means some sort of sickness.

I think it's true. I also just learned that kids can get diaper rash when teething also.

DS always runs a low temp when teething... 101 and under with no other symptoms is usually teething...

My neighbor is an ER doc and he said that it happens when a tooth breaks through bc a little bit of bacteria enters the bloodstream.

One of my twins never runs a fever when teething. The other twin always does runs a fever when teething.

I agree on both counts. DS got a nasty diaper rash every single time he was teething. he got all his teeth by 2 1/2 years and hasn't had one since. He never had one prior to his first tooth either.
