Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
DS1 his temp never went over 101 when he was teething and it wouldnonly be for a day.
Ds2 his temp has gone up to 102 when a tooth was breaking through. Same thing...only a day or overnight.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
DS1 would get a fever the day before the tooth broke through. It could go as high as 102. It happened every single time he had a tooth come in.
DS2 only had it happen once, and it was his eye tooth on the lower left. He got a fever that was low grade for a day, and then spiked (scared the heck out of me) and then went away. He has all his teeth for his age, except for the other lower eye tooth.

Thanks all...what do you consider "low grade?" My DD has around 99.5 all day and I can see two swollen white spots on her top gums but no breaking through yet.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
between 100 - 101 is low grade to my Ped. 99.5 is not even considered a fever really. 100.4 I believe is the threshhold. Call the Ped & keep an eye out for any other symptoms.

DD always gets a low grade fever for a few days before a tooth breaks. she currently is cutting two teeth and has had a fever since thursday, the highest being 102. it's also the highes fever she's ever had.

DD gets a low grade fever pretty much the day she cuts each tooth.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
My doc said 101+ is not teething. For my kids, the teething fever is not a myth. Chase is teething like CRAZY and up until he got this virus, he was at 100.3-100.8 every day just from teething.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
DS almost always would run a fever with his teeth breaking through.
his normal temp is 99.2-99.5ish; sometimes he would hit 101 when teething. motrin would bring it right down though.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
Our ped says teething does not cause a fever - only an infection causes a fever.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
DS has never had a fever other than once when he had his first cold, and it was like 99. Coincidentally he got his first tooth then. He has 6 now, and no fever with the rest of them.

Re: Fever caused by teething....fact or myth?
DS runs a low grade fever when teething. Been to the pedi 2x because of it. If it is over 101, then I don't think it is teething...Too high. My pedi says under 101 can be teething if no other symptoms are present..
