Car seat advice needed please , what should i do?

we just got DS snug ride 35 infant seat last week . Not crazy about it, its heavy and baby is heavy, he is a big boy. I also realized that at this rate he will be out of this seat within few months , and I will have to get a convirtable seat that RF. the original plan was to put him in DD's Graco nautilus (spl) when he is too big for the snugride 35 . but the nautilus does NOT RF. so we would have to get yet another carseat that can RF when he is too big for snugride , before he is ready for the nautilus.
Now I'm thinking instead of doing this, just take the snugride back and exchange it for a convirtable seat, that can RF until he s ready to FF.
am I making any sense? Lol.
So here is my Q, if I bring back a snugride, can I get another car seat that RF but is also good for an "older" & bigger baby and that also goes in snap & go?

Most convertibles aren't snap and go from what I recall. I moved AJ into a convertible at 6m of age and she was tiny. I did it for other reasons but one being that a convertible faces backwards and could be with her a long long time. At 4yrs old she's still using it.

As far as I know, the only car seats that fit in a snap and go are the carrier-type ones. You can always just keep him in the snugride, but leave it in the car and just take him in and out like you would using a convertible seat. Or, if you don't want to shell out big bucks for another rear facing seat, you could get something like the Cosco Scenera car seat. We have two of them for our less-used car. It gets very good reviews and is only around $40.

The Snap n Go is only used with an infant car seat. A regular car seat won't have a base, so you wouldn't be able to take it in and out of the car like the infant car seat.

There are PLENTY of rear-facing car seats that can last you years, but they won't come in and out of the car like the infant one.

I had the snug ride 35 also. At about 5 months I stopped taking the car seat in and out of the car. Left the seat and just took the baby. I had a snap and go but sold it after 2 uses. I preferred the regular stroller. My son is now 16 months and in a convertible seat rear facing. I got the evenflo symphony and it is so roomy. And he'll be able to use it forever.

The infant seats are the only ones that you take in and out.

You can trade the infant in and get a convertible. I put my DS in a convertibel by 4 months. He is a peanut but I hated carrying the infant seat and it was just as easy to take him in and out of the bigger seat. I would get a convertible that goes to at leat 60 lbs...that way you will have it for a long time.

i am currently using the graco snugride 30 and hate it also. I wish i had just registered for the convertible seat. DS is turning 3 months next week and we already feel like he's a little too big for this carrier.

We have the Britax Marathon 70-G3. I read great reviews about it and a bunch of people i know have it and love it. it's RF and FF so it'll last us for years to come.

Option C is use the Snugride to the limits. You don't have to continue to take the seat in and out. You should be able to use the seat until the child's head has 1" of hard shell above his head or until he meets the weight limit, whichever comes first.

You CAN do a convertible from birth as well, many people do and are fine without having a seat as a carrier. Graco MySize70/Size 4 Me is a good option, Britax Marathon/Boulevard, Evenflo Triumph Advance/Symphony, Diono Radians are all good bets to look at

Like others said... You can always just keep using the snug ride and just take him in and out of it.
Convertible seats are good too. They can rear face or forward face. DS is 26 months and in a britax boulevard. We love them! The height limit is 49 inches, and he's on the smaller side... So I'm planning on him being in that for another couple years. so I feel like we'll get our money's worth out of it Chat Icon
