2nd timers: Who is watching DC # 1 when you into labor?

DH and I don't have any close family nearby. Hi parents are coming from FL about a week prior to my due date to help care for DS. Not sure what we will do if this LO is born more than a week early ( DS was 2 weeks early).

If you don't have family, are you asking friends? neighbors? hiring a sitter?

2nd timers: Who is watching DC # 1 when you into labor?

Well it was supposed to work as follows: my parents would come up to the hospital to visit me and ds in the am. If the weather was good, dh was going to bring dd to the hospital to visit with me because I am not coping well with being away from my 15 month old for 4 days. Then my parents were going to take her home and dh would pick her up at night. Unfortunately my dad just found out on Wednesday he needs a very serious surgery. The surgery is going to keep him in the hospital for 2 weeks and now my csection just got moved up. So dad's surgery is Wednesday (but he has to be admitted sunday) and my csection is Friday...keep in mind he is having the surgery in the city so about an hour away. My mom is going to watch dd at the hospital during my csection because she is aching to be there (my mom that is) and then dh will drive my mil home with dd where she will watch her til dh gets home. After that, we will play it by ear and figure it out. Luckily mil is off from her main job next weekend and does not have to work her other two jobs if need be (yes, she works three jobs). It's just difficult because we have help, but help is spread thin because my siblings are going to help take my mom back and forth. Sorry so long. I'm mentally all over...can't believe my dad has to have this surgery and praying it goes well and he is ok, combined with my csection getting moved up, with hormones that make it difficult for me to deal with being away from dd....etc. I'm rambling. I'm currently living the phrase "God's busy laughing while we're busy planning."

My mom until my sister gets home from work in the city and then my sister will watch DD and my mom will come to the hospital. If I go into labor in the middle of the night my sister will come here and stay with DD.

My parents and brother/sil will trade off. If I go into labor in the middle of the night and I need to leave fast my brother will come.
If we didn't have family I would use my sitter/close friends.

We don't have any family nearby either. When DC2 was born, we flew MIL (who wasn't working at the time) out to watch DC1. She came about 2weeks before his due date, then he ended up being 10 days late. She was staying with us for two months anyway.

With DC3, we are flying FIL out (MIL is back at work and FIL is retired) about a week before my due date.

If I happen to go early, we will have to arrange babysitters. We have a couple friends who may be able to help if I'm in labor overnight. DH has never spent the night in the hospital, except when I was in labor, so he'll go home in evenings and take over. It's not ideal but what can we do.
