Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
BTDT moms who had C/S with both babies or the 2nd time around... how was it the 2nd time around? How long was your recovery?
I feel like it took forever for me to feel "normal" again after my C/S. now I'm going to have an 18 month old to take care of and a newborn. How did you get through it after a C/S?

I hope we get some feedback. I'm 8 weeks and already worried about these things . I'm sure we'll figure out how to get around and make it comfortable for us....but it seems soo daunting right now.

Re: Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
I had a vag birth with DD#1 and a c/s with DD#2 (she was breech). Let me tell you, I hated it! It took what seemed like an eternity to recover. My DDs are 14 months apart, and DD#1 didn't start walking until 17 months so I couldn't pick her up for 8 weeks after my c/s and needed help whenever DH was at work. Luckily, I healed fine and did not have any additional issues other than just healing, but it totally sucked!

Re: Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
My 1st c/s recovery was pretty easy, and the 2nd was even easier. DS was 19 months old and very clingy, so I was holding him right away. I tried not to lift him, but there were times when I couldn't avoid it. Then DD had jaundice and we had to take her to the hospital for blood tests 3 days in a row, so I was up and moving pretty quickly..I also went home after 3 days, instead of the usual 4. Only took motrin for pain.
I think your mindset has a lot to do with your recovery..focus on getting well quick to go home and be with your babies..and get up and walk around as soon as they let you.

Same here with the bathroom..one step at a time, slowly. Like babies do when they first learn.

Re: Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
Honestly, I had a shorter recovery time with my 2nd C-section. I am not sure if it had anything to do with my 2nd baby coming 8 weeks premature but I feel that I healed a lot quicker & I had a 10.5 month old to take care of at that time.

Re: Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
I didn't have a c/s the first time, so I have nothing to compare it to. But my DS was 2 1/2 and I had twins and I think my recovery time was pretty short. By 10days or so after they were born I was alone with all 3 and doing OK.

Re: Spinoff - Labor with 2nd child C/S
i had my 2nd C section when AJ was 23 months old.
he went through the same cut.
it took a lil longer the 2nd time around because they are cutting through scar tissue so its a little tougher.
as my friends dr so kindly said... the first one is like cutting into a tender juicy piece of chicken and the 2nd time around will be like cutting through the cartilage.
as for recovery... both my recoveries were painless and short.
home after 3 days with both kids.
the 1st time around my DH was home the entire week. the 2nd time around he was home for 2 days. it wasnt bad at all. but then again it depends on how you are with pain and what you may feel is painful.
with my 1st i waited 7 days after i came home before i drove, with my 2nd, i was driving after being home for a day.
with my 1st i guess you can say i milked it, made my DH carry the laundry down the stairs, empty the dishwasher etc. with my 2nd, i had a toddler to chase and no time to wait for my DH to do it when he got home from work.
