Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

Anybody have somewhat symptomless pregnancies? Did your mom experience the same?
So far I haven't really felt pregnant and my mom said she was the same way for me and my brother. In fact she said she felt the best when pg.

What are the thoughts on this?

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

my mom had 7 symptomless full term pregnancies. She can't believe what my baby is doing to me. She said she may have been nauseous for 3 days, but that is it. At 24 weeks, I still vomit every few days. Yeast infections, bloody noses...other then that, what is important is that I have never spotted. I thank God for that. At 24 weeks, I am really appreciating the fact that i am not on bedrest, no contractions...that is a gift.

Wow, SEVEN symptomless pg's? Bless her!!

I am guessing you may have sisters in that bunch of siblings. Any with kids? How did they do with pg?

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

My mom had really good, easy pregnancies with both me and my brother.. no nausea, felt great till the day she delivered, didn't gain much weight, etc..

Overall, my pregnancy has been good .. I am thankful for no complications or bedrest, etc. I did, however, have awful morning sickness the first 14 weeks... (my mom never had a drop of morning sickness )

My mom had pretty easy pregnancies, and I'm having an easy one, too. Other than nausea during the first trimester I have felt great. I have had a few bloody noses and some ligament pain, but that's about it.

Oh I wish I wish. My mom says I seem to be similar to her pg's. I hope it stays that way.

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

mine has been wonderfully symtomless....I reqally can't complain. My mom was pretty much the same for her two pregnancies, yet she was a type 1 diabetic so under close watch and went every week to the dr, had al these tets, etc. She also had a cesearean b/c of it so I have no idea what labor would have been like for her! (and hence, for me!)

This is interesting to hear about.
Now I wonder if you have sisters, did both of you follow mom's pg's or neither of you?

Well, in my case my mom and I are very similar healthwise but not when it comes to pregnancy. I really did not get sick in my 1st tri but my mom says she spent the first 4 mos w/me sick as a dog - w/ my brother she was a little better.

Even more interesting - my mom is one of 6 sisters. My grandmother had 6 symptomless pregnancies and of those 6 only 2 of the daughters say they had good pregnancies. So go figure!

my mother wasnt half as sick as I was so I would say it is not hereditary. Weight on the other hand I think is totally hereditary.

My mom had symptomless pregnancies with me and my brother.

When I had MS with Emma and Jeremy she would tell me it was all in my head. Uhhh no woman MS is a KILLER!!

This time I know what she was talking about. Symptomless pregnancies are the way to go!!

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

I am 38 weeks, 2 days and so far (knock wood), the only "sympoms" I have had are daily nosebleeds and heartburn. Not too bad! My sister's only "symptoms" was really bad sciatica.
My mom never talked about MS but I think I would have known if she did have it. She doesn't really have a high tolerance for pain.

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

My mom had terrible MS-

I was nauseaus but nover vomited.

Her boobs did not become mortal weapons like mine did....Chat Icon

She got swollen with water in the last trimester- hopefully, I won't.

I was "stuck" in her pelvis and they did a CS- but, I was 8 1/2 lbs so maybe Matty will be a little smaller- I'm taking Bradley classes so I'm trying to prevent that....

Don't jinx me. I am almost 17 weeks and haven't vomited yet.

I will admit that sometimes I feel a little phlegmy and want to gag but I haven't felt nauseous like I wanted to hurl.

I do have to say I am finding it interesting to see how we compare to our mother's during pregnancy.

Now something more to think about is how much we are like our mothers in other ways.

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

My mother had 2 blissfully happy, symptomless pregnancies and she gained less than 20 pounds with each one. She can't understand how I could possibly have the symptoms the way that I do. The weight thing may be genetic, because I haven't really gained any weight either. But I've had constant nausea, fatigue, and indigestion. Oh, and I'm incredibly moody and cranky Chat Icon . My Mom says she was never moody while pregnant but my Dad tells a different story. So our Moms may have forgotten a few tidbits of information along the way. Antoher thing to consider: most of our Moms were pregnant in their 20's (I'm 33), which could account for some differences, at least in regards to the weight gain and "bouncing back" so quickly.

Re: Symptomless Pregnancies: Hereditary?

I have had a wonderful, symptomless PG the entire time (I'm 31 weeks.) My mom's 3 were much worse. She had terrible morning sickness with all of us. My sister had 2 relatively easy pregnancies though.
