Re: dollhouse recommendation?
I bought DD (also 2.5) the Loving Family House.
It's fairly small, and comes with the family. I also got a deal on the Fisher Price website. It came with 3 extra room sets.
I had also seen a nice kidkraft one in Costco for about $90- but it only came with a few pieces of furniture and no dolls, although it was MUCH larger (like barbie doll size).
I figure I'll start with this one and if she's still into it in a few years (when she starts playing with barbies) I will upgrade to a nicer one.
Check out Fisher-Price.com They are having some sales still.

At that age I would probably go with the Loving Family dollhouse. If you are against plastic, the Kidkraft ones are SO nice and will grow with her. They are Barbie sized, but you don't have to get actual Barbies. You can buy the princess dolls from the Disney store.

We have the loving family doll house for DD and she plays with it every day. It is a fantastic toy and I would highly recommend it. I would get the one they offer that is furnished because finding the rooms was time consuming.

ITA. DD was almost 3 when she got it for Christmas last year. A year later, she still plays with it every day, it's her favorite toy. Worth every penny. It's held up beautifully to everyday use, everything is still in perfect condition.
I also second the idea about getting the furnished one, I ended up having to order the furniture sets online and honestly I think it ended up costing me more than the furnished one.

If you don't have a lot of space (we don't) the Fisher Price My First Dollhouse is adorable. DD got it LAST Christmas and still plays with it every day. It's simple and small, but the people and furniture are very cute.
