9 MO - doesn't want to be spoon fed anymore!
My DD is 9 1/2 months and in the last week, has started pushing away the spoon when we try to feed her. So... it's made feeding her oatmeal, yogurt, etc very difficult. She only wants to feed herself! Has anyone been through this? Do you think it's just a phase? Sometimes if I give her another spoon to hold, it helps distract her and then I can feed her with the spoon.
That being said... I'm looking for more ideas for finger foods I can give her (especially for breakfast). - she would eat fruit and cheese all day long if I let her... and she also eats steamed veggies, chicken and pasta. Any other ideas?
TIA!

my DD did this at that exact age. we did the EXACT same thing - if we gave her a spoon she would sometimes be ok with us spoon feeding her.
i found breakfast foods became the easiest - pancakes, french toast, etc. also grilled cheese, cheese sandwiches, cheese sticks, yogurt melts, mac & cheese, meatballs, puffs, eggs (we did scrambled yolks with cheese and pureed veggies before 1 year old)..

I did BLW so DS only ate what he could actually feed himself. The only time I ever assisted with a spoon was with his yogurt, and only because it's so pricey I couldn't see half of it go to waste Add in more finger foods if you don't want the mess, but IMO it's normal and healthy to allow them to feed themselves. It's great for their motor skills

My twins did the same thing. Try giving her a spoon to hold while you feed her with another spoon. I would sometimes let them dip there spoon and it would distract them enough I could get a bite in.
