is it normal to feel this bad later on?

At 34 weeks, 4 days with twins, I've got almost 10 lbs of baby in me. I can barely walk some days- it's impossible to get up, my knees, my back, my swollen feet. Every day I get to work is a victory.

Yet, I hear about women who have had "perfect" pregnancies and not one complaint. Is it just me? I dread going to sleep only to wake up in the middle of the night a zillion times. I'm not sure if I can do it much longer (thankfully I've only got 3 weeks left)!

My doctor says I'm fine, it's normal. Really? It's normal to barely be able to walk to the bathroom?

is it normal to feel this bad later on?

I'm 35wk 5d and I'm feeling this way too (with only 1 in there!), the last few days especially. I'm not having the swollen feet issue, but I'm basically in constant pain and discomfort. I haven't been able to take a full breath in weeks and can rarely finish a meal anymore - I feel like my stomach must be the size of a pea right now because if I eat anything more than that, I want to puke. So, unfortunately, I think it's normal. Hang in there, we're almost there!

most "normal" pregnancies do not consist of 10+ lbs of baby Chat Icon

when I gave birth to my son, he was 8.7 and things were starting to get uncomfortable. Much more and I would have been complaining.

Also, two placentas - more hormones. More movement etc. Of course you are more uncomfortable.

I figured I'm as uncomfortable as a woman with a singleton pregnancy at around 40 weeks. I hate hearing about these people and their perfect pregnancies where they felt great! lol I'm like, good for you, keep it to yourself!

not to mention they are head to head right under my rib which feels like it's breaking with each BH contraction.

But they're oh so cute!!!

I think it's totally normal!! I'm only carrying 1 baby and I I have difficulty walking! My baby is so low it's hard to lift my legs to get into bed or climb steps! My back hurts; my feet are swollen. I've had a pretty good pregnancy; but I still feel like I got hit by a truck some days!

I had a hard time walking in the last weeks with DD and she was a singleton born at 6lb 13oz. Sometimes she'd get in a bad position and I'd have a shooting pain in my tailbone where it would be near impossible to stand upright. I was relieved when I was put on modified bedrest at 34 weeks due to contractions and a shortening cervix. I couldn't imagine working my 12 hour days on my feet any longer. Since I was that uncomfortable with one, I can only imagine how bad 2 can be.

Re: is it normal to feel this bad later on?

First of all congrats for still being able to work!

I felt so crappy at the end of my twin pregnancy. Swelling wasn't even the word, I never slept, I couldn't breath, I was constantly shaking and all my joints just hurt! The crazy thing is I really didn't know how bad I really felt until after I had them and started to feel more like myself.

I never believed people when they said how much harder a twin pregnancy was. I always thought I was just being a "baby". I am now pregnant with my 3rd and this has been a breeze compared to the twins so far (knock on wood) I know I will be uncomfortable as I get bigger but I truly feel that the strain a twin pregnancy puts on your body is worse than a single pregnancy.

Hang in there...you are doing a great job!

I feel like absolute crap today.

My ankles are the size of my thighs - forget cankles, this is way beyond that.

I must have pulled a muscle in my back - right behind my left shoulder and every movement of the arm hurts.

I did something to a filling in my tooth and I think it's causing me headaches.

I've been feeling light headed the last 2 days.

When I wake up, my fingers are so stiff and swollen, it hurts to use my hands.

6 more weeks......ugh I hope I make it

I think around 34weeks is when I started to feel bad also! What you are feeling is completely normal. I worked until 36 1/2 weeks and can't imagine how I would have done it any longer because it became so hard to walk! I can't breathe most of the time....I snore at night driving my poor DH crazy, my ankles and calves are swollen, heartburn off and on, lots of pressure when I first stand up, feeling like I have to go to the bathroom all the time, etc....my list goes on and on! LoL

You're almost at the end, keep strong!

Re: is it normal to feel this bad later on?

I would say it is totally normal, especially with twins. I know a ton of people who say that their pregnancies were so perfect but in the moment they complained a lot or were super moody. They re-wrote their histories, KWIM? Even now I look back and say that the last few weeks of my pregnancy were not terrible but then I remember some rough nights--and I only carried to 36 weeks, did not have twins and had a tiny baby even for a 36 weeker.

Totally normal. I felt that way and only had one. I thank god all the time that I only went to 37 weeks. I'm not sure I would have made it any longer.

Re: is it normal to feel this bad later on?

Totally normal. To me the 3rd trimester is the hardest. I give a lot of credit to women who carry twins or more. One is hard, I can't imagine 2. Hang in there mama, you're so close to the end.

Re: is it normal to feel this bad later on?

Love, SIL was a miserable b!tch at the end and Hen was a week late (I can also say this because I adore my SIL). You have a double load in there and we both know that they are uncooperative to say the least!

I can't believe you are still driving yourself to work! No wonder it took you so d*mn long to park and walk upstairs the other day Chat Icon

They're almost here Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm sorry you feel like poop. If it will help, I'll keep complaining to you about my gas.
