My hair (BAD haircut)

So..I just spent the last 2 years growing out my hair. I had a pixie cut for years and got sick of it and grew it out. Not very long just a chin length a-line bob.
I go on Monday to have my hair cut. I ask him to cut the back shorter and he chops all my hair off. It's back to being almost as short as it was when I had a pixie. I'm so upset and have been crying on and off for 2 days. I know it's just hair but I'm so upset and sad about having to spend another year + growing it out again

Does anyone have any advice? Bad hair cut stories? I'm feeling so low about this.

oh i'm so sorry...getting a bad haircut is the WORST!! i've been there, thankfully, just once but once is enough!

i'll share my horror story...

i've had all lengths of hair; really long, really short so getting it cut isn't a huge deal for me. i had been going to this place for a few months felt confident that the girl who did my hair could handle a short cut, so the NIGHT BEFORE MY NEPHEW'S CHRISTENING WHERE I WAS TO BE HIS GODMOTHER i get my haircut.

it looks HORRIBLE.

i actually stopped her and just said you're finished, stop cutting it, i look HIDEOUS.

i wanted a short cut with long layers on the top/crown/bang area...i'm not really describing it correctly, but suffice to say, i brought a damn picture with me when i got it cut and she still managed to eff it up!

i literally had like two inch hair. think halle berry only i'm not nearly as gorgeous as her!

i went home and CRIED for hours. i thought i was going to throw up.

i kept combing it and touching it...i think i was secretly praying it would grow if i pulled it hard enough

i seriously considered going out and buying a wig, that's how bad this haircut was.

i called my mother and sister that night cried to them (also to sort of give them the heads up so no one would react too severely! ) i made sure i did my make up really well that day, wore really pretty jewelry - basically did everything i could to take the emphasis off my hair.

thankfully, my hair grows pretty fast and so eventually it got to a point where it wasn't horrible but if i had the money at that time, i would have had extensions put in it was so bad.

so hang in there. we've all been in your shoes and while yes, it's only hair, it's still our crowning glory and it sucks when we don't feel like we look our best but i assure you, in no time, your hair will grow and look great!

is it possible to go somewhere else and see if they can give you a haircut, though shorter, maybe better looking?

Bad haircuts are horrible. When I was about 12 or 13, I asked for layers in my hair. Instead, the idiot gave me a mullet!

Can you get some cute clips or head bands? Maybe take Biotin?

Honey Badger: I'm so sorry that happened. I would have probably worn a scarf or something for pictures I actually thought about getting extensions but I keep hearing they're very expensive....
I'm lucky that my hair grows really fast too but it's the awkwardness of the growing out that gets me down. I'm gonna have to find someone really good to help me with that. My sister is a hairdresser and advised me to let it grow out a bit before cutting again. She also taught me to do some things to make it look less boxy.

Eliza: I have a ton of clips and head bands from when I grew it out the last time. Glad I didn't throw them away

Is it cut too short for clip in extensions?
Those are more affordable but you have to have enough hair to hide the extension clips, etc

I'd think so...The back is maybe 2-3 inches all around (I feel sick just writing that)

i've had bad hair cuts so many times as a kid and the last time when i was pregnant 3 years ago.

before my kindergarten pictures my mom told my dad to bring me for a haircut. I have no idea what was wrong with her at the time that she would have sent me off with my dad to get it done. He brings me to Figaro's Unisex shop near my grandma's in sheepshead bay..they do mostly mens, unisex my ass. OH MY GOD. the worst kindergarten picture ever.

and then, like you I had grown my hair out long, but got it cut about a month before I was due. I wanted some length off. Usually the stylist would work her way up my hair, but this time she literally pulled it back and went right across. HOLY SHIT, I ALMOST DIED..and of course when you dry the hair its shorter b/c it poofs up.

I was a crying, pregnant hormonal mess when I got home.

but u know what..it grows back. and this will all be a funny memory one day.

Just went through this, myself. About a month and a half ago, I went to Cactus. I don't have a specific person because I don't get it cut often. My hair was probably almosy the middle of my back. I brought a picture of Jenny McCarthy with a shoulder length bob. She cut my hair to where it barely reached my chin. Ugh. It's growing slower than I had hoped, but what can you do.,

Thanks so much ladies. I tried to get my hair fixed and it was a lost cause. So, back to a pixie it is..I always liked my hair this style so I can live for the time being...and now to start growing it out
