Really bad ratty tangles in DD's hair
How the heck do I get rid of them?
She's got them in her hair from sleeping...a few different ones that have gotten worse over the last few days, even with repeated conditioning, etc. She freaks if I try to use a comb (very dramatized, I know I'm not hurting her), though I bought a really wide-tooth comb and spray detangler to try to help....but between her not wanting me to do it and that combo not really working, I don't know what to do. 
It's not ven towards the bottom (ends) of her hair, it's in the middle...

Do you use children's conditioner or adult stuff? I find that the no tears formulas just don't do as good of a job as my standard pantene on the tangles. I put a big glob on a tangle like that and try to work through it with my fingers before rinsing.

I use adult conditioner on Lily's hair every night in the bath. And then the spray detangler when I brush it. Otherwise, it's a huge mess!

I went through this with DD. Now, I put her hair in a ponytail before bed. Still gets knotty, but not as bad.
In the morning, I spray with water and brush. I don't comb anymore, she freaked too. I get it all with the brush.
I also used to use spray detangler in the morning, I switched to water but still use the detangler for really bad ones.
I feel your pain

I use regular adult conditioner in the bath and comb through, then rinse out. Every morning, I use water and a brush to get all the knots out. Usually...I let her watch TV while I do it so she is distracted.

Have you seen G's CURLS???
Yea..and try getting a comb through that!
I use, smooth shampoo (Pantene or some one that I would use), Conditioner and after shower, I throw in an anti frizz creme through hair.
In am, I spray with detangler, lots of it.
use a comb to get through.
Sometimes we have severe tangles and sometimes not...
and of course lots of OUCH!
