Sad/anxious about upcoming vacation
So we have vacation scheduled soon.
I'm very anxious about it and feel bad about going. Between coworkers losing their homes so I'm covering their work and the general uproar in the area I just feel like I dont want to leave and feel guity.
Anyone else?

Re: Sad/anxious about upcoming vacation
I completely understand. We are leaving for India next weekend and I feel so conflicted. I'm looking forward to it but feel terrible that so many people are suffering while we go off to play for 3 weeks. On top of that, we have some friends who were burned in a restaurant kitchen fire on Friday ..It's just been a crappy couple of weeks. Hoping this week is better
We are you headed to? Try to enjoy your vacation and don't forget how lucky and blessed you are.

Re: Sad/anxious about upcoming vacation
We have a vacation coming up soon, less than a month away. I do feel bad about going considering all the bad stuff going on, we will be gone for over 2 weeks. But how can we cancel it and loose out on all that money...travel insurance won't cover us just changing our minds

I think it is normal to feel this way but people deal with tragedies everyday and we personally can not change our plans all the time for them. Just feel blessed that you are able to help them and still go on your vacation.

Re: Sad/anxious about upcoming vacation
As someone who was impacted severely by the storm I say please don't feel that way!!
GO and have a wonderful time.
If it makes you feel better, give what you can to the cause before you go but ENJOY your trip.
Life goes on and no one expects anyone to stay home and sacrifice big plans because of Sandy. It wouldn't help any.
People affected will travel again in better days to come.

Re: Sad/anxious about upcoming vacation
Enjoy the trip. While we lost power and needed to get a new furnace, we went away for the weekend to regain sanity and have a sense of normalcy. I did not feel guilty for leaving, we had no heat, no power, no light, no showers, nothing. We dealt with that for five days and went away for the weekend to come home to power but no heat. The vacation helped make us emotionally feel better. We finally had heat two weeks after the storm. By going on a mini unplanned vacation it really helped us heal. I hope that your vacation helps you do the same. Also, as another person said, donate, it will make you feel good too.
