So, Liam is going on his first mini-vacation without me and I'm sad
Not sure why I'm sad, but I am.
My MIL wants to take my DH and DS to Boston Tuesday morning and come back Weds night (they are originally from there). I'm working (but I wasn't invited though). I can't complain because if the roles were reverse, I wouldn't think twice. I guess I'm just sad that my little man's first long car ride & hotel stay I won't be there. I'm used to him staying overnight at my parents house or my MILs, but this is a trip, you know.
Help me feel better. DS is almost 16 mos.

I'd be sad too  Is that why you weren't invited - because you are working?
I bet your DH and DS will have a great time, and you can have some time to yourself

Im looking for someone to take DS overnight for me. LOL.
I would be more upset about n ot getting invited, not that he is leaving.

I don't know if its the not getting invited part. DH and MIL are originally from Boston and they've headed up there before without me but this is the first time DS would be going.
I hang with my Mom on the weekends (go shopping & such) so I dont' know if its that or I won't be on my DS's first mini-vacation, you know.

If you are uncomfortable I think you should feel free to tell your in-laws that he can go with them the next time you are free so that you can be there as well.
Do what feels right to you :))

Not being invited would be very upsetting to me. It was one thing when it was just you and your DH, but now that DS is in the picture and he is still a baby, I think that you should have been invited too.
In all honesty, I would be very uncomfortable with my DC taking that long of a drive and staying overnight in a hotel without me. It is not that I wouldn't trust DH, I just wouldn't like it at all.
