Girls who go to Women for Women...
I have my first pregnancy appointment at Women 4 Women in New Hyde Park next Friday (I'm not a new patient, I've been there a few times before). I called and asked if they will do a sonogram that first appointment and they said yes.
Last week I wanted to know if I could come in early because DH was off from the hurricane and didn't think he could get off next Friday (I think I posted about that). Their phones were down so my mom asked about it last Friday for me (she was there with my younger sister). They told her that they only do sonograms on Thursday's and I couldn't come in.
So my question is, did you have a sonogram your first appointment and was it on a Thursday? I'm scared I'm going to get there on a Friday and they are going to tell me they aren't going to give me a sonogram (I'll be 8 weeks). I went there when I had my mc on a Monday and they did a sono so I'm not sure if it was just because of the hurricane or the woman didn't know what she was talking about or if it's true.

So you can either go on a Thursday and get a sono or go on a Friday with your DH and NOT get a sono? That's tough....your DH can't get off on a Thursday?

That doesn't sound right. Perhaps they didn't understand what you were asking? I'm a patient of Dr. Bell. I saw Dr. Duncan my first appointment at 8 weeks when Dr. Bell was on Maternity Leave. It was on a Monday; she did an internal sonogram.
I'm 31 weeks and was supposed to go in next week Wednesday for my 32 weeks appointment then again on Thursday for a Growth sono. They said that sonogram they only do the growth sonos on Thursdays. But I called the other day and said with the gas crisis I didn't want to drive to the office two days in a row and wanted to reschedule my OB appointment to Thursday so I only have to make one trip. They said I could come on Wednesday for my OB appt and Growth sono.
Who is your doctor?

 I'm not a patient there, but I've never heard of only giving sonos once per week. I'm sure they have more OB patients than that! I'm sure it was just that week the woman was talking about. Why don't you call to ask if you're unsure?

They told me the sono tech needed to do the sonos and she was only there on certain days. Call and ask what days she is there. I believe my 8 week one was on a Monday. I am now 12 weeks.

I just made my 8 week appointment there and it is on a Thursday. I would just call again to double check.

Maybe they didn't understand what I was asking. Hopefully you are right. My doctor is usually Dr. Duncan but I'm seeing Dr. Bell at my first appt. I think the girl who made my appt was new so I'm going to call on Monday and ask if they are doing the sono on Friday.
My DH will hopefully be able to take whatever day I get an appt for off, it was more that I don't know what the office policy is. I called and asked if I would get a sono at my first appt and they said "yes". Then when asked if I could come in on an earlier Friday they said they only do sono's on Thursdays. Still doesn't make sense because Amy (the PA) did a sono on a Monday when I had my mc.
I guess we'll find out on Monday. Thank you girls!

I think the Sono tech is only there once a week. I've only had the doctors do sonos for me and it definitely was not on a Thursday. No worries.
