Re: women who are having girls
I dont know if its a boy or a girl but if I do have a girl I will definitely get her ears peirced at about 3 months old.
My mom did mine when I was 3 months old and Im fine My mom said it was actually a good thing that she did it young because I wasnt aware of them and didnt touch/fiddle with them.

Re: women who are having girls
I'm going to get them done. DH is very conservative when it comes to things and he agreed to it also. As soon as the pediatrician says ok we are going to do it

Re: women who are having girls
i had mine done when i was young. i remember crying when the lady showed me the gun and the sound it made...apparently the noise scared me hehehe.
i think i would have preferred to be older and want it for myself.
my ears were sensitive and i could only wear gold until i got older. i didnt really care about earrings either. so if it were up to me...i prolly wouldnt have pierced them.
but that being said...ill prolly wait to see if wants them when shes older and make it into a special outting.

Re: women who are having girls
I love this topic. I had my ears pierced when I was 13. My sister had hers at 11.
It hurt VERY much. (Had it at a jewelery store with a earring gun) Any time I thought about getting anything pierced... or a tattoo in the future, I thought about the PAIN.
It was also MY decision, so I felt that I had to deal with the pain (consequences of the decision). And the pain of rotating the earring every night to prevent it from scarring to the ear was awful too.
So: I saw it as a lesson I'd never forget. I'm glad I have pierced ears, but it prevented me from doing other things (because it was somewhat traumatic).

Re: women who are having girls
I am debating on when to do it. I had mine done very young & honestly I love that they never close up. Also it was the tradition of my grandmother buying me my first diamond earrings, which I still have & wear for special occasions. I was thinking of doing them young also, prob before the baptism, but I am worried that once she starts grabbing things she will mess with them too much. I know they will be screw back but I am scared if she gets it off, and puts the back or the earring in her mouth. KWIM? Part of me also thinks it is better to do it young when she is less aware, then maybe she will never bother with them? Another part of me is like screw it not do them, and when she asks we can do it.

my dd never messed with hers and if she WAS to swallow it, they are so tiny, it would not be an issue at all ...I have the ones with screw backs

Thanks I am thinking that young they wouldn't realize to mess with them, and then as they are older they are use to them, and they are old news. Did the doctor do it?

Re: women who are having girls
Yes, probably within the first few months. I think it looks adorable! I am just not sure if I want the dr. or a jewelry place to do it. When the dr. did mine (I was also a few months), he did them crooked! I am just not sure about the things I've heard about the ear gun not being sterilized....

I guess this is not the popular opinion, but I am wating until she is old enough and mature enough to take care of them herself.

Re: women who are having girls
i can't decide. I have never been overly into babies having pierced ears, but I can see why it would be easier to care for now.

hmm...I never thought of it like this. Makes me reconsider getting them done as a young baby. Good point!
