Newbie to oil
So we are buying our first house in levittown. It's roughly 1300 square feet. Can anyone give a guesstimate on prices per month. We are going to do balanced billing, but I know that doesn't hit until a few months in the house. We keep our apartment pretty low now. I think the highest we've gone is 70-72, and honestly I am not sure if that is average, more than average or what. Lol
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) we are trying to figure out what we are going to pay
Also as a side note, the house has a gas stove, does anyone know what that will run?

Newbie to oil
Our house is about 1500 sq. ft. Last year we had a fixed rate of $3.59/gal. We are on balanced billing at $125/month. We had 3 fill ups I believe but we weren't even close to empty during each fill up. We tried to keep the house between 68-70. It was a mild winter so I don't really know how it will be if it's really cold this coming winter.

Re: Newbie to oil
Wow, I was thinking about $300 a month on balanced billing. I hope we can find a price like that!
So they fill up even when it's not empty? I guess that makes sense. Do you set the number of fill ups when you set the price? Who do you use, if you don't mind me asking

It really will depend on how insulated your home is bc if its poorly insulated, you may go through a lot more oil then projected plus until your in the house, you don't know the temperature you will need to keep.the house at. Is the house 2 zoned heat? My old house in levittown was, so my parents only ran the upstairs heat while we were home & up there which cut back immensely.
Try to lock in to a ceiling price plan this way if the oil goes down, your price will too. We just signed with Romanelli for $3.69 ceiling. Is the burner old? If so, you'll want a service contract too.
My house currently.is 2250 sq ft & we fill about every 6-7 weeks. We always did cod so balanced billing was not possible.

Re: Newbie to oil
We do not do balanced billing, but if we did we would pay about $200 a month. Our house is about 1400 square feet, we do keep it very cool most of them time (rarely over 65at night and 68-70 when we are home during the day). We do have a large hot water tank that causes the burner to run more. This year I am hoping to get this lower as we replaced a very large window in our living room that was very drafty.

Re: Newbie to oil
I am not sure how well the house is insulated, this may be a really dumb question, but is there any way to check?? I guess it will just be a waiting game when we get in the house, I just hate not being able to budget yet!! lol. I like things set and ready to go!
