Talking to your belly?

So I am 22 weeks today and my mom always asks me if I am talking to our Chat Icon . I am a teacher so I am talking allllllllllll day long....but I don't really talk directly to her unless I am feeling her move around a lot at home. I feel bad but I also feel weird just talking down there. lol.

How many of you talk to your belly everyday? Just curious.

Re: Talking to your belly?

I talk to them all day. When they move. When they arent moving much. Whey I want them off my bladder. When I go into their nursery. When I buy something for them online. When im going to eat a food i know makes them move around a lot. When I buy something for them at a store (I try to talk low so people don't think I'm nuts lol)

I work from home and dh works days into nights so I have no one else to talk to. Lol. If I didnt talk to them they would never know my voice.

If you are talking all day then they are hearing you and are fine though.

Re: Talking to your belly?

I actually just started doing this. When I'm alone in my car I share my day with the baby and I tell him what his daddy is up to and tell him how excited we are to meet him. Things like that. I don't do it everyday.

I talked to my belly with my DD and I read to her allllllll them time. Constantly read books to her. Same with this pregnancy. Chat Icon

Could be coincidence but my DD has been a complete book addict since birth. She ALWAYS listened attentively to stories when I read to her and from the time she was itty bitty she would sit down with books all around and "read" forever. I think there is something to be said for talking to and reading to your little one in utero. Chat Icon

I talk to my belly all the time. I say good morning and especially talk to my belly at night when my Chat Icon gets really active.

Your LO will learn your voice just from your everyday interaction. I've read that DH should talk to your belly while rubbing it so the baby starts to learn his voice as well. But again, the LO will learn his voice just from his everyday interactions with.

Having the LO learn your voice is more soothing for the baby once born.

Talking to your belly?

I read to him every night. Sometimes I talk to him during the day to tell him what we'll be doing or what we've just done. I ask his opinion when I'm making food choices. And I'm a teacher, so I'm talking all day. DH thinks it's weird to talk to him, so he doesn't as often, but he'll read to him occasionally.

Talking to your belly?

I just replied to another post that I feel pretty silly because I have no belly yet (15w). Even when I do, I'm not sure I am this kind of person. So what I started doing is "rocking" my body back and forth when I blow dry my hair. It helps move the weight on my feet and it feels like a nice "bonding" thing to do with my LO. It may be stupid, but......it's what works for me. Maybe find something that works for you. I'm a teacher too so I totally hear you about talking all day.

Same here.

I feel weird talking to my belly. Although I DO let her know when she's kicking the cr@p out of me and hurting my ribs!Chat Icon

I like to put my hands on my belly when she kicks, and rub my tummy.

But I'm not a talker.

Talking to your belly?

I talk a lot in general, not specifically to him all of the time but I'm sure he hears me. I do sing in the car on the way to work in the morning and usually apologize before and after because I know it's probably not pleasant Chat Icon Every know and then I'll ask him what he's doing in there since I haven't felt him move in about a week (I know it's still early) or I'll ask him what he wants for dinner since I'm never craving anything... I think once I feel him move around more I'll probably talk to him a lot more.

Re: Talking to your belly?

Not a belly talker here and neither is DH. It just feels too silly, I know the baby has no idea what I'm saying or that it's directed to him/her. He/she hears me talk all day so it's not like they won't know my (or DH's) voice. I rub my belly on occasion but even that never came naturally to me.

I talk to her when I'm leaving work and tell her we are going home to rest and I'm sorry I had to stand all day lol.

When she moves I rub her and tell her I love her

Talking to your belly?

generally when she moves i will rub my belly. i work in an office so she hears me talking all day. I do talk to her sometimes during the day when i have a minute to myself, but i don't make this common practice, generally not every day. DH talks to her every morning before he leaves for work and before he goes to bed at night.

Talking to your belly?

I'm sure the baby has not a clue if you're reading a book to him/her or chatting with a co-worker about celebrity gossip. They just hear your voice. So I don't think it matters if you speak directly to your belly.

I never ever read to DD and she's totally obsessed with books. I highly doubt there's a connection. It just happens to be what she's into.
