If you were spotting red blood...

would you go to your doctor?

I hate not knowing why I'm spotting. I've been having spotting on and off since i found out two weeks ago (i'm 6 weeks pg). It's either brown or pink...not quite bright red, but very pinkish colored.

I had bleeding with my first son, but that was at 14 weeks..they said it was just a small cervical hemmorage that can happen but it was nothing serious (although it was awful for us!!).

i have never bled in early pregnancy. When i spoke with the nurse she said to come in if i was cramping badly accompanied with bright red blood, otherwise spotting can be perfectly normal.

Anyone else have this happen? Just wish i could relax. I know it is what it is, just hate not knowing!

I should add that i was cramping a lot at 4/5 weeks and no cramping this week. Just tired with sore boobs. Lol.

Re: If you were spotting red blood...

I would definitely go to the dr. Brown is usually normal, but red I would definitely go just for peace of mind.

Re: If you were spotting red blood...

I would call for peace of mind. I spotted a few times during my pregnancy (even early on around 7 weeks) and I called the Dr. each time and they had me come in for an ultrasound each time and everything was fine. I suffered a MC prior to this pregnancy so I was super paranoid. Bleeding is totally normal so it may be nothing but for peace of mind, I would call. Wishing you the best Chat Icon

Re: If you were spotting red blood...

Yes, I'm super paranoid also because I had two miscarriages, so if I saw tiny blood, I would go to the dr for an u/s.

I had a tiny bit of blood later on in my pregnancy with my DD and all was fine. It's the worst though!

Good luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: If you were spotting red blood...

I just wanted to share that I had a lot of bright red blood when I was around 6-7 weeks. I was sure that I was losing this baby as that is how it started with my mc last time.

I went to the hospital (it was the weekend so docs office was closed) and they confirmed there was still a heartbeat.

There was never a 'reason' given to me for the blood and it continued for about a week, getting less and less but still there and still red. My doctor recommended bed rest since she said it couldn't hurt. I stayed off my feet for 2 days.

I am now 24 weeks and baby Chat Icon seems to be doing great.

So sometimes, unfortunately, it can be normal although I know it's scary.

If you were spotting red blood...

ii had really heavy bleeding early on in pregnancy. like period bleeding, consistently and i was freaking out!!!!! i went to the Dr. every other day to make sure the baby was ok. They were never able to tell me where the bleeding was coming from, but then, thankfully, it stopped at 9½ weeks

I would go in.

I had spotting at 6 weeks; and they had me come in for a sonogram just to make sure everything was ok. Happened again at 10 weeks and they had me come in again. I'd rather be overly cautious when it comes to these things.

Re: If you were spotting red blood...

I talked to the triage nurse..she said the doctors instructions were that if there is more spotting that turns into bleeding, or if im having any bad cramping they will see me. Otherwise if it were just a little spotting with no bad cramping, to monitor it and call them. Which is what i assumed they would say. I feel ok-no bad cramps and no more spots since last night. I will patiently wait till my 8 week sono! Thanks ladies!!

I had spotting early in my pregnancy and the RE said the same thing. Minor spotting is very normal. As long as it's not accompanied by cramps, you shouldn't worry.

Also, there isn't really anything they can do anyway. I'm sure everything is great with the baby. Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
