similac vs enfamil
im due in 6 weeks and was leaning towards using enfamil because thats what my sister used and i believe it had more dha in it..but at the hospital tour today i was told they use similac advanced and you can only get enfamil if ordered by your pediatrician...just looking to see what people use and if they preferred one over another

i didn't really have a choice..hospital started him on similac advance...afterwards when he was diagnosed with allergy he went to similac alimentum...i will tell you that for the brief time he was on enfamil gentlease..I hated the cans..they grossed me out...I had to cover the top in plastic in between uses...similac's bottles were more convinient to store in fridge....but if you use the powder, this won't be a problem.

I honestly dont think theres much of a difference. If you look at the ingredients its pretty much the same thing. My DS has been on both and he tolerated both just fine. However, I just personally like the Similac better because I prefer the bottles that the liquid comes in vs. the Enfamil cans.

the hospital gave us Similac nursettes and While I was breastfeeding they did give DD some of that and I took it home whatever was left. I supplement with Formula and had gotten a lot of free samples of Enfamil and also Similac. I just started to use the Enfamil. Try them both and see what your LO likes

They gave my DD Similac in the hospital but when I got home we switched to Enfamil because I had a ton of samples. Eventually we switched over to the Target version of Enfamil.

I felt the same way about the cans. The RTF bottles for similac are so much better.

similac vs enfamil
I stared with Enfamil and then switched to Similac because taste testers voted it the best tasting formula (from articles I read online)lol. It also didn't smell as bad as Enfamil IMO.

This is what I did with DS, and plan to do again if I can't get enfamil in the hospital. Also because enfamil has a higher level of DHA and DS's Dr preferred it.

hospital started us out on enfamil nursettes but i switched to similac because i was able to buy cases of the RTF bottles at BJ's (I also did not like the cans enfamil came in)

DS used similac in the hospital after I stopped pumping. We used enfamil when he came home bc we had free samples. When that ran out I put him on similiac and he is still on similiac. We changed him to the spit up similiac formula due to acid reflux. He is doing great on similiac!

similac vs enfamil
The hospital where I delivered just started him on Similac Advanced. He did well on it for a bit but then had a lot of gas issues. We were all over the place with switching around. At one point, we did try Enfamil and it was a nightmare for DS. He had an extremly poor reaction to it and couldn't keep it down. We ended back to Similac and have not looked back. Honestly, it's trial and error. If your child doesn't have too many tummy issues, it probably won't matter what you use. From a financial standpoint, I tend to get a ton of Similac checks but rarely get Enfamil checks (even though I signed up for them)

DS - hospital started on Sim. Ped. immediatly took him off and this was why:
1. Only formula without the correct amount of DHA (for brain development/growth - which is why it is given with prenate)
2. Enfamil is closest to BM in composition (caesin and whey ratio)
3. Does not use sugar in the formula (maybe this is why it tastes better). Second ingredeitn on most of their milks is sugar.
So when I had DD I asked hospital for Enfamil..gave me a bit of a hard time but I got it.

similac vs enfamil
In the Hospital I BF and FF with similac AND enfamil. Didn't really care or think to hard about it. Then at that first week visit I asked and the doc recommended enfamil. I did a little research and hands down I stuck with Enfamil. I used up what was left of similac and never looked back.

you can use what they give you in the hospital and change when you get home....there is a large chance you will end up switching regardless...all of my friend mommies did...i started with similac and am on the hypoallergenic now bc the regular one was too harsh on my sons tummy....but my doc said there was no prob switching to enfimil if i had to...
