Lunchtime woes
So.. I go back to work tomorrow, which means its time to pack my lunch everyday instead of snacking from the fridge.
Before I got pregnant, I religiously ate turkey sandwiches. By religiously, I mean every single day since middle school. I'm now 31. Now that I'm pregnant, what do I eat for lunch? I have a fridge, but no microwave. Any suggestions would be fantastic.

I had the same problem. I always had turkey for lunch. I've been bringing PB&J and salads.

Re: Lunchtime woes
This week I made bean salad, so I am bringing that with triscuts or chips.
If not that, I bring a hummus sandwich. Sometimes pb & j.

Re: Lunchtime woes
Healthy eating is soo important during pregnancy. I know it's so easy to use pregnancy as an excuse to splurge and eat junky foods, but there could be no more important time to eat healthy. Everything you eat passes on to your unborn child.
I would honestly avoid processed meats, unless you are buying organic. With that being said, you could do chopped salads with tons of fresh veggies, chicken salad on bread or crackers, quinoa with veggies, egg sandwich, etc.

Lunchtime woes
I'm having the same problem. Tomorrow I'm having a nectarine and a salad with cucumbers, onions, pepperoncini, romaine, hard boiled eggs, bell peppers and grilled turkey breast (I got it at shoprite already trimmed and sliced thin and threw it on the George Foreman grill with some seasonings). I also bought a sweet onion dressing to go on it. I'm pretty pumped for lunch tomorrow, but I feel like I'm lacking in snacks!

Oh... Just so you know, I'm not eating any deli meats throughout my pregnancy. Just wanted to clarify :)

I lived on PB&J when I was pg with DD. Another favorite was Greek yogurt w/granola, honey, and fruit

LOL...you were totally clear in your OP. I ate a lot of chicken salad, egg salad, chicken cutlet sandwiches, dinner leftovers (steak, pasta, meatloaf, etc).

Lunchtime woes
Thanks for the advice ladies. A hard boiled egg in a salad seems quite doable to me!! I'll make one pbj sand which a week - they're not my favorite, but with some good jam, I can cope. Maybe it won't be so bad after all. I have mourned the loss of my turkey though, lol.
This might be a stupid question, but is mayo safe? I learn something new about food restrictions everyday :)
Edit: clearly from the egg salads and chicken salads - I'm just going to say mayo is ok. Go team mayo for more lunch options!

Okay I wasn't clear that you were cutting it out completely or just cutting down. Hope you got some good ideas!

Re: Lunchtime woes
Ugh that is tough you do not have a microwave. Hmmm, salads? Or tuna but I know you can only have certain types and have to limit it.
Do you have a toaster?
As a last ditch effort I would say a toasted bagel with cream cheese! I lived on those in my first tri when I didnt feel good lol. Another thought is maybe cereal and milk. Cheerios are fairly healthy and I have taken a big liking to them lately! Also maybe bring some raw veggies and hummus or ranch dip as a side?

No toaster :(. Our teacher cafe has nothing in it - there's a fridge that no one uses and smells like old milk, so I have my own. I might be able to use another teachers microwave once or twice a week - maybe.

What about buying a small turkey breast and roasting it on Sunday night for lunches? You could still eat your turkey, and you could make home made chicken salad sandwiches also.

Re: Lunchtime woes
you can still eat turkey sandwiches, i would just get fresh turkey breast and cut them into cutlet sizes and cook them. Takes a little more work but its really good :D
