What to do?

What did everyone cut out of their diet prior to starting TTC? I am just curious because I am reading way too many books that tell you to stop caffeine/alcohol/ everything 3 mo before. While I am not a big drinker, I do love having my morning cup of coffee before work. What did everyone do?

Re: What to do?

Cold cuts, sugar, sushi, anything too greasy . I dont take any meds like aleve, or allergy meds (I'm Suffering already)

I usually start drinking decaf but this time I still drink one cup of coffee

Now I have a lot more salad and fruit, water etc

Ets I got my BFP first month trying last time, so I change my diet when TTC

Re: What to do?

I'll be honest..I don't know one person, myself included, who cut out any of those things prior to conceiving..I'm not saying that its silly to do BUT i know for myself i wasn't going to eliminate my occasional diet soda or coffee or beer because I was TTC. I knew that it could take some time, and did I really want to be eliminating all that stuff indefinitely? I know that once i got the first BFP i cut back a lot on caffeine and of course no alcohol.

The baby doesn't share a blood supply with the mother until about 6 weeks...prob natures way of giving us time to eliminate anything potentially harmful to the baby. It's all a matter of personal feelings...the nice thing about caffeine is that its a quick elimination from the body. And remember, you can still have some caffeine while pregnant! my doctor told me to enjoy the equivalent of 2 cups of coffee/day if i wanted (although i had way less)

Good luck!!

Nothing! It took me 5 months last pregnancy and I'm already 4 months into TTC this next pregnancy so if I cut out all that stuff I would be miserable (unnecessarily) for many months. When I get a BFN, I need a glass of wine that night! Once I hopefully get my BFP, that's when I'll start an altered diet. I have been taking prenatal vitamins the entire time. My hair and nails have never looked so good! Chat Icon

What to do?

I didn't cut anything out with DD and now that I'm ttc #2 I still don't plan on cutting anything out. I'm a coffee girl so I'm going to keep at that! I don't think it's a bad thing but just something I didn't choose to do.

Re: What to do?

I cut out nothing both times I was TTC. Only after I was pregnant did I watch certain foods like cold cuts, caffeine, etc.
