What monitor do you have?
I've been going CRAZY looking at baby monitors and I'm at the point where I have no clue what to register for...
SO-- Very helpful lifamilies ladies --
1. Video monitor or sound only? 2. What monitor do you have? 3. What do you think of your monitor (for those of you using them already) OR What made you pick your monitor (for those of you who have not started using it yet!)
THANK YOU!

We have a sound only monitor...it's the sony baby call. My hubby was against a video cam and it's worked great for the past 2yrs. I'll probably get video this time around so i can have it going at the same time in 2 diff rooms but i'm not sure yet.

Re: What monitor do you have?
I have this one:
Motorola
I got it based on its wonderful reviews and tons of research. I would only be comfortable with video but I'm a neurotic freak lol. I haven't technically used it yet (although hopefully VERY soon as I am at 39 weeks!) but I have tried it out and it is fabulous. Great video quality, great audio, plays a number of lullabies, tells you the temperature in the room, it's wonderful.

Re: What monitor do you have?
I posted this the other day so I'm copying and pasting since it took me a while to compile... hope that's ok!
We started out with only an audio monitor. We just didn't think we'd need or want a video. By the time DD was 3 weeks old, even though she was in our room sleeping, we realized we NEEDED to be able to see her all the time. So I bought the cheapest video monitor ever and we love it. But it only works great because we have a fabulous audio monitor too. The audio on the cheap-o video monitor is NOT adequate IMHO, so we just keep it muted and use the audio monitor for listening.
For audio, I have this sony one:
http://www.amazon.com/NTM-910YLW-Sony-Baby-Nursery-Monitor/dp/B000S35QLC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345515942&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+audio+baby+monitor
I have the cheapest video monitor ever for DD:
http://www.albeebaby.com/summer-infant-day-and-night-baby-video-monitor-02620.html
The video picture on it is GREAT and I love that it's got a very easy to tap button to turn it on and off on my night stand in the middle of the night. But the audio on it is terrible so we keep it on silent. Since DD is upstairs and we're downstairs, we need audio. I actually had registered for and received that audio monitor before DD was born and didn't buy the video until later on. It's actually the perfect combo.
I also have a drop cam which is an internet video camera that you can view on the computer and even set it up so grandparents can see it or whomever you want. It has apps for the iphone/ipad too. I love how it also keeps track of movement overnight so I can look at it and see what time DD got up in the morning (since sometimes she plays for a while in bed before I hear her now). It has about a 7 second delay, though, which I'm still not used to. Once baby #2 comes, I'm going to use the drop cam for DD (she'll be almost 2 then) and the video monitor for DS.

I have the Sony baby call too, with 2 receivers. I keep one plugged in on my nightstand (because I have slept through the beeping it makes when it goes dead!!!) And the other I use downstairs and around the house. I love the sound activated mode, so you dont have to listen to white noise all night!!

Re: What monitor do you have?
We chose the Philips AVENT DECT. It is audio only. Haven't used it yet, but we decided on that one bc Baby Bargains rated it the best. It supposedly has a very wide range with very little interference.
