Just a vent . . . and need some prayers!!! ***A LITTLE UPDATE 8/16***
I know in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t THAT bad but . . .
We signed contracts the end of June. We started the process and had all our paperwork and everything to the mortgage company. They have the title and it’s in process of review. For the past 3 weeks we (DH & I) have expressed to all parties that we’d like to close on Friday 8/17.
I know, I know, we don’t get to chose the closing date.
Our on/about date is 8/15 and we’ve done everything in our power to get things done to make it happen sooner, rather than later. Our attorney reached out to the sellers and they are saying they want/need 1 week notice prior to closing. He said “Consider this your one week notice.”
What’s most frustrating is that I know they are moving from the house to a rental – they have signed a lease – but we don’t know if it’s for 8/15 or 9/1. I’m hoping/praying it’s for 8/15 b/c I really don’t want to move in over Labor Day weekend. There are just too many things going on – aside from knowing we won’t have a lot of help available to us being it’s a holiday weekend, but DS starts Kindergarten that Wednesday. I’m nervous about his transition to the new house, and starting school. I know it’s nothing I can control, just frustrated.
PLEASE hope/pray with me that we do in fact close next week, the sellers get right out and we can get right in!!
***********UPDATE**************
DH talked with the mortgage company, our agent, sellers agent and attorneys - Looking like we are going to close on 8/28.
Not ideal, but it was confirmed that the sellers will be OUT, so we can close and move in the same day!!!! 
DH says he'd be prepare to pack up a moving truck on the 27th and park it in the driveway so we can unpack on the 28th! 
That week is going to be NUTS - 28th we close, it'd DH Bday, and we have a Fire Dept function. The 29th I have an OB appt and the 30th I have a school introduction function with DS. FUN!

Lots of everything works our the way you need it to!!!!
Buying a house can be so stressful and what may seem like no big deal to the seller can be a huge deal to you! Sorry you are going through this!
We were in a similar situation but we were waiting for our clear to close FOREVER one snow storm after another delayed it over and over again. I was 8 mo pregnant with my twins and we were living in a studio apt. I got the clear to close one day and literally the next day I had an emergency c section. We got our closing date as I walked into the OR. My point is yes it was stressful and crazy but it all worked out in the end!

I hear ya. I start work in 15 days!!! I need to close, enroll the boys in school, paint, move and have a meeting ith special ed for my son to go back to district from BOCES. 15 days... My on or about date was 8/1! We locked in already too. I just want to know what the darn date will be! Im not even packing b/c the last house fell through at the last minute after waiting for months (short sale)

OMG that is nuts!
We (thankfully) were able to register DS with just the contracts, but still . . .
Add to it - I checked pricing for a moving truck on Labor Day weekend - it's MORE $$$

Good luck with the closing and the move. You are so lucky to only be pushed back a week. Our seller pushed the "on or about" the full 30 days, then continued to drag her feet and only closed 60 days after the on or about date once our lawyer threatened her with a lawsuit.
I consider the 28th as a special date though. We also closed on the 28th (which was also our first anniversary) here in NY, I rushed to DMV to get my drivers license now that I had an address because my Massachusetts license expired on the 30th, we had the locks on the house changed then drove up to MA to finish packing up the apartment, meet the movers. After the truck left we headed back to NY and slept on blankets on the floor waiting for the truck to arrive. I was there for half the day and had to go to work in the afternoon. It was all a blur and we didn't have any little ones to deal with at the same time. Wishing you all the best!
