My 8 month old flips to his belly as soon as I put him in crib- is that ok?

Aww i know it is stressful. I am of the belief if they are doing it on there own it is ok because he can always roll back over. There's not much you do when they start doing it!

yes definitely fine. my DD hasn't slept on her back since around 8m either.
as long as the baby is controlling the flipping and can lift their neck normally, its fine.

Yes its fine! my DS has been on his belly since 4 months. he puts himself there and he is comfy so I leave him there.

my 4 month old is doing that now and hes fine. he's always been a side sleeper and now wants to sleep on his tummy. He always lies with the side of his face down, so i'm not worried. also, the doc says once they do it on their own, its safe

At 8 months, my DD slept on her belly full time- with her face pressed into the mattress! 
she was fine.
Once they can get that way, they are strong enough to lift their heads and turn their heads, etc

My DS started rolling over on his stomach when he was about 3 1/2 months old. I was nervous at first too--I would go in and flip him back over (stopped swaddling at that point too) but my ped said if he's doing it, he's strong enough. So, he's been sleeping that way every night since!
