Re: FTWMs, come in
DS is set to start kindergarten in 2013. I've already spoken to my boss about putting him on the bus and coming in late and she was 100% fine with it. She's been trying to get me an official day from home, so I knew she would be supportive.

Re: FTWMs, come in
I luck out because the school is down the street from the house and I have plenty of time to drop him off and be at work by 9. If that wasn't the case, the preschool that he goes to now has "pre-care" where parents can drop off kids in the morning and then the preschool buses them over to their school. They also provide "after care" which we will need to do after school.

I work from home so yes. I can wait with them for the bus. I will probably have a babysitter pick them up from the bus

Re: FTWMs, come in
I decided to put DS into preschool this year. There are some days that I'll have to take a long lunch, and others I'll have to leave an hour and 45 minutes early to pick him up. I told work and they were ok with it.

Re: FTWMs, come in
Hopefully I still have my current work situation where I work from home 2x's a week. The other 3 days I got into the city and I leave at 6:15am and get home at 7pm.
The days I work from home I can drop off and pick up. The other 3 days we will need the grandparents or someone to do it. We have nieces that live in the area that may do it.
DH can't do it as he's a teacher. We live in S. Setauket and he teaches in Baldwin.

Re: FTWMs, come in
I would either put in her before care- my daycare does that- and they put them on the bus. They arrange for the bus to pick them up at the center. But if I am still at my same job (which I hope to be!) I think my boss would not have an issue with me coming in late so I can put her on the bus. He is not strict at all about things like that.

FTWMs, come in
As of right now it looks like it will be a combo of DH, ILs and neighbors... We will see what happens 3 years from now when DS starts school. Kindergarten is going to be the toughest because our district only does half day.

Re: FTWMs, come in
I currently work 9-330. When DS starts full time school i will adjust my hrs to 930-3 so that i can drop him off and pick him up. I was never a bus kid and i dont plan on having my kids take the bus if i can help it. We also live 2 mins from the elem school.

Re: FTWMs, come in
i have to be at work at 8. I live 10 minutes away from work. So yes i'll be able to be here for the bus in the mornings. Then in the afternoons, depending on the shift my husband is on, he'll go to my in laws or the sitters.

Re: FTWMs, come in
Yes, I have thought about it and it gives me a ton of anxiety! Right now DH and I both leave around 6:45/7, so there is no way we can get her on the bus; she will have to go to before care. I could leave a little later if I wasn't dropping her off ay daycare (but then I would have to switch daycares for DC #2 so DH could drop off), so I am praying that before-care in my district starts at 7! My DD is only 2, so I have a little while to figure it out.

thats why i switched jobs and work remotely for a mid west law firm. they allow me to work 98% from home so this way i will be able to put him on the bus. If not i owuld probably have au pair live with us to help with mornings and after school
This is a great solution! If I'm working ft I hope to have a sitter get the kids off the bus. Not sure about morning because the bus comes after 9 am

I work for 6 am so if I am still at my job by the time she starts kindergarten I will be able to on my days off.

Re: FTWMs, come in
Since I work from home, I'll be able to take them in the morning. I'll need to have a babysitter pick them up in the afternoon or do some type of after care.
When DS went to Tutor Time, there was a full mini-bus of kids that would leave there in the mornings to head off to school.
