ehhh it wouldnt bother me, in my own personal case anyway. My DD looks EXACTLY like my DH. People are saying this to me ALL THE TIME. I dont let it bother me because I know its true. It could get annoying though if the same person says it all the time.

I would block her specifically from seeing any photos you don't want her to see. That way she can keep her comments to herself. Chat Icon

Re: Would this get under your skin after awhile?

Thinking back to my newborn mom days, it would bother me because everything seemed to bother me then.

The rational side of me says that relatives tend to see their own side & features in a baby because well, they knew the adult as a child.

It wouldn't bother me know because my BIO 101 class says my kids are 50% me. I don't need a clone to know they are mine. Plus I love my husband & his looks enough to get married so I'm fine with that too.

What annoys me is hearing negative personality traits are me or DH. I like to pretend those are mutations.

Saying, "he looks like your DH" means she thinks he looks like your DH. Whatever, either he does or he doesn't.

Saying, "SORRY, he looks like your DH, SORRY" means, I feel bad that your kid has your DH's face. So... yeah, it would bug me.

Maybe you should comment on her next posted photo, "SORRY, you look so much like your Mom. I'm so SORRY!"

After reading this, you're right. The "SORRY" would bother me so I'd respond "Why are you sorry - I love the guy."

If she does this over and over again, maybe the sorry means that she is sorry she keeps saying it but she just cant help get over the amazement on how alike they are. just playing devil's advocate.

Yes, My inlaws do this. It is annoying beyond belief. Ok, DS looks like DH, you said it once, you said it twice, fine. But after 50 times, seriously, lets move on. Oh and they also dont need to call DS by DH's name.

the sorry - would p-ss me off.........yeah we get you think they look like dh- but

It could be sorry that they look like your dh - meaning not as good as if they looked like you.
It could be sorry they look like your dh and wouldn't it be nice if they looked like you(do they have kids that look like them?)

Id probably reply something like - I love that dc looks like dh ( actually my dc does look like my dh when he was little).......

If they kept up with the sorry comments after that- they'd probably start being blocked from future photos.

ETA- Gdesq - I have relatives that are probably one step away from calling dc dh's name.Chat Icon
