when you buy new dishes, do you wash them?
they are sealed in a box and have plastic wrap as well and i am about to load them all in the dishwasher. am i being silly?

Definitely not. I still find they have all that "dust" from the cardboard and packaging on them when you first open them.
Plus, who knows who handled them prior to packing.
