Things to have in the house before brining newborn home

I am due in a few weeks and want to make sure I have everything i need. Can someone tell me all the things I should have in the house prior to brining my baby home.
Additionally, I am stumped on finding a good mobile and baby monitor- i dont need a fancy monitor but I do need one.
Do you think I should get those toys that attach to the handle of the infant carseat?

thanks in advance!!!!

I would recommend to have the monitor now. You'll want to be able to keep your eye on the baby during naps or in the night, especially if you're not in the room with him/her.

I wouldn't stress too much about a mobile or carseat toys. Those are things that he/she will use in a few months.

I would make sure that you are stocked on diapers and wipes. A place to set the baby down like a swing, bumper, moses basket, or packnplay bassinet is helpful. Have swaddle blankets and side snap tees.

Congrats on your baby!

Cheapest decent video monitor out there:

You want to have infant tylenol (acetametaphen) in the house from the beginning, as well as a rectal thermometer. Also A&D lotion and infant gas drops.

Good luck with everything! That's my very top of the list.

They need:

A place to sleep
Diapers
Wipes
Bottles or your boobs
something weather-appropriate to wear

That's really it. Everything else is icing.

Disposable nursing pads. I use lansinoh. I leaked though so many shirts those first couple of days bc I didn't have these on hand Chat Icon

Eta: and a sleep bra or some sort to put them in. Trust me. You don't want to wake up in a puddle of milk Chat Icon

We have this monitor but a separate inexpensive (sony) audio monitor. The audio on the video monitor I posted is terrible -- very fuzzy/scratchy/loud. But I love that I can plug it in and stick it on my night stand and just tap the button on top to turn on and off the video picture in the middle of the night or whenever so I can check on DD without bothering DH. It's super easy to unplug and plug back in as you move into different rooms in the house.

If you have a big house, I'd recommend a separate audio monitor (the one we have was around $30 but we got it as a present) but if not, just the video monitor works. We've been using it for over 18 m now. I now have a separate video monitoring system since we're having a second child but that one is internet based and was $150 (so, double the price) and it has a delay because it goes through the internet (totally secure, though, and awesome so DH can check it while he's at work or if we're out we can look in on DD). It really depends on your needs.

As far as inexpensive yet effective goes, the one I posted fits the bill. Picture is very clear, especially in the dark.

As for what you need to have

Not much. A newborn really only needs diapers clothing and formula/bottles. And a place to sleep. All the other things you can get as you need them. And many things you rush out and buy your baby might not like. I wish I saved tons of money and not bought most of the things I had

I agree word for word. Essentials are bottles, drying rack, sponge, bassinet (or where ever aby will sleep), baby monitor, diapers and thats about it.

I just posted two monitors I'm selling coincidentally. Check out my posting and tell me if you are interested in either. I'm negotiable on the price for both.
