Spinoff to my own post- Things to do with newborn outside of the house during winter
I'm not afraid to go out with Joey, so public places are ok with me. DH has paternity leave this month and I'd like to find things for us to do during the winter with Joey. I know he'll care less about most of the things but just looking for ideas...
Aquarium is one thing on our list.

I took my DD to museums, book stores, out to lunch with me....actually I guess we basically just live our normal life and bring her along for the ride!

Aquarium is one thing on our list.
I would look into gymboree or the little gym. Check out meetup.com for some moms groups. Also check out tot music. Check your local library, they usually have story times.
There is a book too called baby friendly long island, you should check that out.
ETA: with gymboree you can sign up for the package with open play which means you can go whenever they have "open playtime" on the schedule

I used to just walk around Roosevelt Field mall on weekday mornings when it was empty and it made me feel like I was at least seeing other people. Plus you find great sales in January

oh and national amusements in Holtsville and Hicksville do baby movies
where they play movies, new releases, in the morning and you can bring your baby, the keep the lights up and the volume down and set up changing stations in the theater.
