napa/sonoma or san francisco?
Going in october for a wedding and it happens to be our anniversary so we're extending the trip to a week.
I booked the Warwick in san francisco for 2 nights. Warwick wasn't my 1st choice or 5th choice, but there is a convention there the same time and EVERYTHING was booked or outrageously expensive.
Now i'm wondering if maybe we should just go to napa/sonoma instead.
People rave about san francisco though.
ideas? thoughts?
my husband isn't really a city person and of course we'd do some sight seeing but mostly we want to relax, sleep, eat and did i mention sleep (2 small kids at home)?!?!??

I would stay in Napa and do a day or two in San Fran...its only an hour by car.

They are both so close. Sonoma seems to be a little more laid back than Napa. We stayed here:

i would do both. we took a trip out there a few years ago and did 3 nights in napa two in san fran. if you are flying that far, you may as well maximize what you do!

We went in May to visit friends who live just outside of Napa. We flew into SanFran (got there pretty late at night - around 10pm) and stayed overnight in the city. I had been there before but DH hadn't. We did an all day tour of the city (not usually a big fan of tours but our time was limited) and hit all the highlights including Alcatraz and then spent the rest of the trip in the Napa area - it is so beautiful there. The city is nice, but I LOVE the Napa/Sonoma area (definitely try to get to the Sterling winery)

i hear great things about the muir woods too. i have not yet been, but that is next on my list for things to do when i am out there.

We are leaving tomorrow for Cali for our HM and we will be splitting our time three ways between San Fran, Napa and Sonoma. I used Bookit.com and we found some reasonable (for the area) hotels.
I will report back when we return!

We just went to Sonoma/Napa last March - We stayed in Sonoma at the Lodge (it's a Renissance Mariott property) LOVED it !!
Very laid back - they have a shuttle to/from the town of Sonoma that has great restaurants and tasting rooms -
We have been to San Fran before - I think (especially if your husband isn't a city person) you can do a day trip
