electrical problem
I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice.
When I came home last night, I realized the AC units downstairs were off. I looked at the stove and saw the time flashing which means at some point the power went out.
I went upstairs to check my office and the computer was off which means it lost power too. The AC was still on in that room though. I am pretty sure they share the same breaker and I didn't have to go into the basement and flip it back over to get the power back on.
I didn't hear anything about thunderstorms in my area last night (which usually causes my power to go out). If the power went out, I would assume the AC wouldn't have been on. Which means only part of the house lost power.
The same thing happened about a month ago. I'm worried there could be an electrical problem somewhere in the house. I'm scared that one day there could be a fire.
How do I go about finding the problem (if there is one)? I have called an electrician last time but because the power comes back on they said there isn't really a way to find out what or where the problem was.
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

Re: electrical problem
It sounds like the power was out for a short period (a second to a couple of hours....) Since the one clock was blinking, that confirms that the power went out, but came back on. Some devices are designed to stay off when the power goes out and comes back on (most computers default to that setting, but can be changed to turn on when the power is restored). It's safer for the devices if they stay off, just in case the power is flickering on and off for a while before it stables.
From what you've written, everything sounds totally normal.
To test the AC that was on, flip that breaker off, then back on after a few seconds, then go see if the AC unit is still working. That would confirm that if the power glitches, the AC will keep going once the power is back on.
