Curious...would people buy a barely used breast pump?

I'm probably going to get a new one for this LO and I only used my current one about 3-4 times at all.

Would that be something I should try to sell? Not sure if people would be interested, of course not with the bottles or tubing though.

Maybe a friend would? I probably wouldn't buy a gently used pump from someone I didn't know. I am probably going to give my Instyle pump to a friend. She wanted a pump and I hated pumping and am just going to buy a simple manual for this baby.

Just curious what are you selling and which pump are you looking to replace your old one with?

I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it yet, but it's the Medela Pump in Style Advance in the tote bag. I would sell any of the parts that come in contact with breast milk since if it were me I'd want new ones either way.

I don't have a friend to give/sell it to right now anyway.

im just curious as to why you want to sell it and not use it for your LO?
to me, if the owner isnt willing to reuse the pump, i prob wouldnt want to reuse their pump either

edit to say - i have no idea about any breast pumps and i was considering taking my aunts used pump - but she used it for 4 kids so its prob time for a new one

There's nothing wrong with it at all...my insurance covers a new one so why not get a new one was my thinking. If the ins didn't cover a new one I'd use the old one. Like i said, i only used it a few times so it's practically brand new.

oh ok that makes sense then...yes a free new one is def a good idea
i thought you were opting to purchase a new one instead of reusing this one

I'd keep the old one and sell the new one if that were the case.

Curious...would people buy a barely used breast pump?

I did buy a used old PIS and it worked great. My dd was in the NICU so I got a new one because my old one was dying. It may be "free" to get a new one, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. You have a perfectly good barely used one already. I don't see why you would get a new one?

I seriously don't mean that snotty at all. I just get frustrated with stuff like this because people think things are free and this is what is driving up healthcare...not this but this mentality. Like free flue shots. They charge my insurance $150 for that shot. I'll spend my $20 and go to Walgreens for it. That's a saving of $130 for my insurance company. Same with Meijer. Here they offer some antibiotics free. Why would I fill it at my local pharmacy and pay for it or have my insurance pay for it when I could go to Meijer and let the actual drug company pay for it. Sorry I didn't mean to get on my soapbox

I understand what you mean, and no offense taken...but how about the crazy amount of money that we pay just to have our insurance? My husband has gone to a doc once in the past year, and if we are paying hundreds of $$ every month I think I should be able to get my $$ worth if you know what i mean. Chat Icon

This is what I would do. If nothing is wrong w the first one, you could get a lot more money if you sell the new one and I'm sure plenty of people would want to buy it.

Also agree. You'd be more likely to sell something that's NIB. Or maybe get one through your insurance and give it to a mom on the boards that needs one but can't afford it?

Chat Icon I know some mom's that wanted to bf but stopped when the maternity leave was over because they couldn't afford an electric pump and didn't have time to manually pump at work. That could make or break someone being able to bf!

I don't see why not considering people rent them.
