At what ppint do you call the doctor b/c you aren't getting pregnant?
I know I am not at that point quite yet...but I was just wondering....
I have a DD already, got pregnant with her first time trying. Now with #2 we are moving onto month 4, I am doing OPK and are BD on the correct days. I just don't understand how I cannot be pregnant yet
Anyway, my friend suggeted seeing the doctor, but I think it is too early, I know sometimes it takes time....Advice?

I've heard you should wait a year if you're under 35 and 6 months if you're over.

i heard the same thing the pp mentioned, however, i was under 35 and knew i had PCOS so i only waited 6 months after nothing happened to see a RE. I wouldn't follow those guidelines, about being over or under a certain age. If you feel like you need reassurance to see what is going on, then get checked out. not that this is what is going on with you, but many couples suffer from secondary infertility, where they had no problem conceiving their first child but had issues trying for a second. No doctor will ever turn you away for having contacted them before a year's time if your under 35

We waited a year and I wish I had gone sooner.

I went right away because I knew I had PCOS. If you have a pre-exsisting medical condition I would go sooner rather than later. Or at least see if your regular gyn can perform bloodwork to rule out anything else.

I also knew I had PCOS so I didn't waste any time...
but going on month 4 isn't bad even though it may feel like it! When doing a natural, unmediated cycle, the chance per month is about 15-20% ....... Hopefully your winning month is coming soon!

Re: At what ppint do you call the doctor b/c you aren't getting pregnant?
I would wait 6 months if your both under 35 as everyone said.
I am 33 and Dh is 40 and i just went to the drs yesterday and the dr's mouth dropped when i told her we had no protection for four years and i have actively monitored and tried for 9 months. I start a round of tests next week and Dh get's tested next week as well. Not fun and will be costly even with just the co-pays.

Well they say it can take up to a year even if nothing is wrong so to generally wait that long before seeking help. That being said, who wants to do that! Haha - just kidding, some people are much more patient than I am. I felt I had a good happy medium. I made an appt with and RE after 8 months (gyn gave the OK) because I knew that they were going to begin by doing tests and other things. It was perfect because we continued trying on our own through all of the tests and when a year hit we were ready to start treatments. It really helped me cope knowing that our time was being used efficiently.

I spoke to my doc after 8 months and I'm under 35. If it were me I would go after 6 months

I'm 31 and it took DH and I exactly a year after getting off the pill. We were going to give it 6 more months before talking to the doctor, but we weren't in a rush. Sometimes it just takes longer...

Re: At what ppint do you call the doctor b/c you aren't getting pregnant?
we also got pregnant with DS the first month trying so when it took 5 or 6 months the second time, it was really hard for me.
6 months it totally normal! Hang in there!!!
keep in mind, even in optimal conditions (everything is perfect - egg, sperm, timing etc) there is only about a 25% chance you will get pregnant in any given month. A LOT has to go right for that BFP!

This is typical advice although personally at any age I wouldn't wait a year. After the 6 month mark I would make the call. Good luck
