When you preparing to move into your house, what did you clean (
I'm just thinking a little ahead, but curious what everyone has done prior to moving in.
TIA

same here. my FIL was making fun of me for scrubbing the insides of the cabinets when they already looked clean but i felt like i had to clean every single inch of the house. i washed all the walls that we didn't paint, ceiling fans, all of the kitchen, bathrooms, baseboards, moldings etc.

We cleaned everything - some things twice - the previous owners had dogs and they were none too clean with them.

Did you change the toilet seats?
This is something I am obsessing over!

Yep. We also changed the shower heads. I'm not sure why but they just skeeved me. We scrubbed all the cabinets, floors, appliances, the stair railing, you name it. The house was not left in great condition so it was a lot.

This.
The house really wasn't dirty at all. She was very clean. She had white rugs that were here forever and they were perfect! But I too skeeve other peoples germs so Bleach, Amonia, boiling hot water. You name it, I cleaned it. We even cleaned and painted the basement and it's unfinished!
And I wouldn't trust a cleaning company to do this right. You HAVE to do it yourself for it to be done correctly. IF the house was completely filthy, I may have had a company come in to get the first layer of dirt off but I would have re-done it all anyway. Yea, I like stuff clean LOL

We didn't go nuts, the house however was empty for a while amd they redid some things to prepare to sell it. Kitchen counter and sink were new, the toilet and sink were new. Basically cleaned the tub and did a regular cleaning of the floors. There is no carpet in the house so no deep cleaning there. We got a new fridge and washing machine so nothing to clean out really...

EVERYTHING. We had a cleaning service come do a deep clean and then I went over and cleaned again, focusing mainly on the kitchen (cabinets & appliances). We thankfully re-did the bathrooms so I didn't have to worry about that.

Cleaned everything everywhere. Changed 2 out of 3 toilet seats (only didn't do the third because we have no idea where to get a new one since it's a strange shaped toilet). Bleached bathrooms like crazy.

Everything!! The sellers were nice enough to pay a cleaning crew to come in to clean because they felt so bad for us (we closed the day my twins were discharged from the nicu) but we still cleaned everything. My mom and 2 cousins spent 2 full days cleaning. And yes we immediately changes the toilet seats!!!!

We cleaned EVERYTHING. We spent weeks cleaning this place by ourselves and with the help of a professional cleaning lady. This place was beyond filthy. It took me two hours to clean one windowsill.

that is the first thing we did.. changed the toilet seat and bleached the bathroom .. even though we wound up gutting it completely, i needed it to be cleaned before i would even use it while fixing everything up.
we scrubbed the house from top to bottom.. bleach was my BFF

Re: When you preparing to move into your house, what did you clean (
Once they tok their furniture out it was way dirtier than I realized. I really didn't factor int eh tiem to clean it all--which limited the amount of other work we could do before our lease was up & we had to move in.
The refridgerator needed to be steam-cleaned and there was cat hair on EVERYTHING. Somehow, the walls & blinds were greasy, and the hair stuck to that.
Those were really the most time consuming things, but I always change toilet seats bleach the bathroom & line cabinet shelves when I move.
