heartburn and achy
Just need to vent! I'm up miserable with heartburn, and my whole right side is so achy because I was sleeping on it. I hate sleeping on my side, and miss sleeping on my belly so much! DH and I went to Montauk for our anniversary and came home tonight. DD is with my mom, and this is a night I should be getting a good night's sleep, and I can't!
Vent over, OK, thank you!
Anyone have any good cures for heartburn? Already took 4 tums and had some milk.

feel better. I have no other suggestions for hb, I usually just drink a glass of milk. It doesn't always help 100% but it is somewhat of a relief. The heartburn is a pretty annoying side effect

Zantac is the only thing that worked for me. The OB convinced me to take it last pregnancy because he said it is what the baby would be given if she had heartburn so it was safe. Hope you feel better! I totally get you on the belly sleepy thing too. I miss it so much, I keep trying!

I moved from Pepcid to Zantac recently. Mine is so bad, I needed to make myself vomit the other day, its gross. I'm not overly cautious about what I take while pregnant, and to me this is a must. I wouldn't be able to take the constant indigestion.

Re: heartburn and achy
I take Zantac 24 hours a day like clockwork. If I don't, I wake up in the middle of the night with acid either in my mouth or in my lungs which makes me wake up coughing like crazy!
With my previoius 2 pregnancies, I only had to take it once a day but it made a HUGE difference! Talk to your OB.
Also, be careful since milk and other dairy can actually be a trigger for heartburn.

It's because of the fat in the milk. The fat makes your stomach create excess acid. I'm not pg yet but I'm one of these people.

Thanks everyone!
Question about milk causing heartburn.... if its the fat that can cause it, would skim milk be OK?

I think skim milk would be better, but then you wouldn't get the temporary "coating" of the stomach. From what I have read online, the milk will give you temporary relief since it will coat the stomach but as you start to digest you will actually produce more acid to break up the fats.
It makes sense to me - I had to have my gall bladder out after DD#2 was born and I was told to avoid fatty foods for a while. The gall bladder controls the amount of bile which gets put into the stomach for digestion, therefore if you eat fattier foods, more bile will go into your stomach since the fattier foods take longer to digest, increasing the chances for reflux.
I also think that not having my gall bladder now to regulate may be one of the reasons I am having a much more difficult time with the heartburn this pregnancy. With the other two, I started between 20-24 weeks, this time it was at 10.
