How Much Do You Think a 3.5 Year Old Can Get Out Of 7 Swimming Lessons?

Should have started a long time ago, but I didn't:(. My daughter will be 4 in October. I just hired a lifeguard at my communities pool to give her swimming lessons for the Summer. She has little interest in getting off of the step. Do you think 7 lessons will do anything?

TIA

A lot, with the right instructor. DS just had swimming lessons before his 2nd bday. He did 30 minutes a day for 5 days in a row and he can swim 5 feet out to the steps or wall pretty much unassisted. He was very timid and cried every day too, that's why the right instructor is a must.

Honestly at that age it can go either way.
At 2yo my DS didnt have alot of fear, we took him to hershey and he went on the runaway railroad. At 3.5yo, we could barely get him to go on the kiddie rides. He had developed all these fears.

Last year at 3yo my DS took lessons at the YMCA, we did 2 sessions so I think it was 18 classes total. He did move up a level but really he didnt get much out of it. He wasnt afraid, he would put his nose in the water but that was it. He really didnt put much effort into it.

This year at 4.5 we signed him up for Safe t Swim and I am amazed at the progress he has made in only 5 sessions! I am not sure if his teacher/the program is just amazing or if he was just more ready.

My point is that you never really know how much they will gain after 7 classes. But IMO (as a former swim instructor) it will be of benefit to her not matter what!!!

I agree, 7 would be great IF it's the right fit with the instructor/method, etc.

Can you take DD to the YMCA? We just started DD (same age as yours) with the YMCA for group swim lessons and it is amazing!! I highly recommend it.
