Tutor Time?
Anyone know how much Tutor time costs for full time daycare? They are being very difficult about quoting prices without giving me a tour... I can't stand that!! It's like a shady gym membership. It almost turns me off completely from using them. Still there are so close to my house so I don't want to discount them completely.

Re: Tutor Time?
I was quoted $230 for 2 days a week. I think 5 days was closer to $450.

Tutor Time?
geez my entire paycheck would be going to daycare and health benefits! And I'm sure that is considered low compared to other places.

Re: Tutor Time?
A friend of mine pays approx. $1500 for the month at the Tutor Time in Lindenhurst. I think they pay extra for early drop off/late pick up though, since she and her husband both work in the city.

Tutor Time?
Some are corporate and some are franchised so they will be different prices somewhat. I don't know about out there, but last year I was quoted $340 a week for an infant at the Levittown location.

The tutor time's all have different pricing. Some are corporate and some are franchised. Even the corporate ones have different pricing based on the area, their enrollment rates, etc. Miller Place is franchised so they'd do things a little different than a corporately owned one. Tell them you're not going to come in for a tour without the pricing, they'll budge!
Also - the corporate ones don't charge for early drop off/late pick up where a lot of the franchised ones do :)

Don't shoot the messenger!
My quote was $140 for 1day/wk $230 2 day/wk $340 3 day/wk
It is quite expensive. We are also looking into other options. I've heard good things about care.com and sittercity.com

Tutor Time?
Thanks ladies! I have been emailing with them back and forth and finally told them if they can't give me a price then I guess I'm not interested anymore. I also told them that it seems very shady to me that they can't even give me a ballpark estimate. My email was a little bitchy but hey I'm pregnant and hormonal!!! haha

Re: Tutor Time?
not sure how far you want to go but I saw you were looking in Miller Place.
I send my DD to Kiddie Academy in E. Setauket and I can't say enough great things about them!
Also pretty reasonable compared to others...I pay $1215 a month for a full time infant...early drop off is not extra...full time is considered 10 hours

They get away with it b/c very few places will take an infant part-time.

East Setauket isn't bad- I work in Hauppauge and live in Miller Place so its on my way. Thats not bad for a price either- that averages to about 280 per week/ 7 per hour which is awesome.
I would consider a nanny but I wouldn't feel right paying a nanny below minimum wage, and that is all I can really afford. I will def check out Kiddie Academy!

Tutor Time?
There is a child time in Hauppague too (Adams Ave) that I've heard great things about - Owned by the same company as Tutor Time. It's usually a bit smaller of a facility and more "home like" vs. tutor time with their bright walls.
Have you looked into Learning Experience in Miller Place? I know someone who used them and was very happy :)

it's also for the entire day, 6:30 to 6:30 regardless of what you need. They also said they are flexible with days which is important for me since my schedule changes.
The problem with nannies and babysitters is, they get sick. Then you are stuck. Daycare centers will always have staff.

Tutor Time?
I actually heard back from Kids Quest in Port Jeff and they sent me a price sheet, which I really liked because it shows that these are their set prices, I had this feeling Tutor Time was going to try and "negotiate" me like a gym membership once I got there- I just don't like that. I'm sure they are a well run facility but that's not how I do business!!
Anyway the current prices for Kids Quest in PJ was 1050 a month for full-time (9 hours) Thats the best I've seen! They also said in the email that they understand it's difficult to plan for daycare and were happy to send me the tuition sheet. I just get a much better feeling about a place like that. And I can't imagine TT is any better price wise
