Anyone have a toddler who wears glasses?

My 25 month old DD needs glasses due to one eye being stronger than the other. Is it hard to get them to wear glasses? I can't imagine that she will keep them on. She does love to wear sunglasses outside so I'm hoping that regular glasses wont be such a difficult transition. Also what do you do when you go outside, take off the RX glasses and put on non RX sunglasses or do you use RX sunglasses too?

My son was 21 months when he got his glasses. It only took 1 day of him trying to take them off and ever since then he keeps them on (except if he's mad at me . . He throws them off Chat Icon on the first day I put on his favorite show and when he would go to take them off I would pause the show and say "Mickey wants you to keep your glasses on". And he would leave them on. It sounds silly but it worked. Now he's 26 months and asks for them in the morning. I don't have rx sunglasses for him so he just wears his regular rx glasses and a hat. You can message me if you have any questions. Good luck Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have a toddler who wears glasses?

My older DS started wearing glasses just before he turned 3 (he is now 5). It was not easy at first but he wore them more and more each day until he go used to them. Now he wears them most of the time with the exception of going in the pool, playing sports, etc.

This goes for DS too except he was 19 months when he got them (is 20.5 months now) and we watched Jake and the Neverland Pirates almost NON STOP for the first 24 hours.

Now if he takes his off I take mine off. He whines for me to put mine on (for some reason he doesnt. like me without them) so i tell him we have to put his back. on first and that usually works.

I dont have rx sunglasses for him. He wears a hat. when he gets used to them more i will get transition lenses.

Re: Anyone have a toddler who wears glasses?

We just finished our first day and I have to say it wasn't as bad I though. I got glasses for myself too, dummy ones so we won't be alone, but he did great.
And we got him the transition lenses, the ones that go dark when he is outside, so he doesn't need sunglasses.
DS is almost 25 months old.

Anyone have a toddler who wears glasses?

my DD has been wearing glasses since she was 7 months old. 1st two month were hard, and we went through alot of broken frames. but she learned to leave them on. now she wears them 24/7, and i do mean 24/7. she sleeps in them, bathes in them, wears them in the pool, etc. never takes them off except to get cleaned. And we have had transition lens since she was tiny. Her doc said you can't keep switching glasses on a baby, so transition is the only logical option.
