Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
My LO does not like to sleep in the bassinet every night for the past two nights she's in their for a few minutes and then wakes up. DH put her in the nap nanny at 4am today and she's been content.
Do you think I can use that as a co sleeper in the bed btwn DH an I ?

Everyone will have a different opinion on this. This is not something we will do.

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
Will the nap nanny fit in the basinet? Me, personally, I wouldn't put it in the bed because I'd be afraid DH would elbow the baby like he does to me every so often.

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
It's pretty high on the sides so I don't know if you could roll over but I was thinking is it safer to put her on the floor next to my bed. THere's not much room there. My other alternative is the crib which is down the hall. I don't know if I want her so far from me @ 11 days old.
Suggestions?

We are not fans of co sleeping, but everyone is different. My NB did not like to sleep in a bassinet either. she liked to be snuggled a little more. We got the Rock and Play sleeper/Fisher Price and she slept beautifully in that. We kept it on our room next to the bed. She loved it!! Good luck!

I do not personally condone co-sleeping but this can be a heated topic so just beware!

Thanks for the warning... I'm neither for or against. I just am looking for an in between more to comfort me than her.
With the NN I thought it was big enough for her to be comfy and safe without me having to put her in another room so soon.
I don't want to have to buy another gadget but use what I have.

Do not use the nap nanny in bed. It is not to be used anywhere but on the floor while you are watching.
Get the rock n play sleeper. It's fine for full-time sleeping and at the same angle as the nap nanny. It's tiny so you can have it in the bedroom.

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
There was a time when I was soooo anti cosleeping! I judged parents who coslept and thought they were crazy and doing their babies a disservice. That all changed when I had a baby. At 4 months we are now going to start bed sharing. He was in the rock n play next to my bed up until now and that was great too. Do what you're comfortable with. I've done my research, read my books, talked to MDs and other parents. Go with your gut and your heart. Good luck!

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
Thoughts on cosleeping aside, I would never use a product for a baby in a way that it's manufacturer warns against.
Their website even shows the nap nanny on the floor in tr parents bedroom - not in the bed.

The Nap Nanny is not to be placed anywhere but the floor! I had one for DD and at the time a parent put it in the crib and the baby got caught between the crib and the nanny when the baby turned and lost his life. I would think of another alternative like a swing or rock n play or just leave the nap nanny on the floor. Good luck

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
DId not co sleep with baby 1 or 2. Did for baby 3 and loved it. Actually she is 4 and still in our bed. LOVE IT. Actually caught her gagging one night and not able to breath. (few weeks old) Heard her and was able to get her up and forward and breathing. I feel it saved her life. But co sleeping is not for everyone. Not for deep sleepers. And maybe better in a king bed for safety. You have to do whats best for you. I will tell you I was sleep deprived for a long time.

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
No. Nap nannies are not intended to be co-sleepers. There are other products intended to be in a parent's bed if you want to go that route, or use a RNP if your baby prefers to sleep on an incline.

So how long do they sleep in the RNP before you put them in the crib?
I may just go and get it even though DH is going to ask why we need another thing.

I had DD in the rock n play in our room until over 9 months old. It was extreme. (Her bedroom is on another floor from ours.) You can have them in it until 25 lbs or until they can sit up on their own. We actually waited until she started to sit up in it to move her out. (She's almost 18 months and we still use it in the bathroom when we shower sometimes -- well, DH does... I use a go pod.)

Re: Your thoughts co sleeper idea ?
I co slept with both my kids and will prob with the new baby too. It was just easier esp since I nursed them. If you want it to be safer you should look into a Snuggle Nest. It fits in the bed between you and dh and has hard side s to prevent someone from hitting or rolling on the baby. Might be worth looking into :)

RNPs are usually used like bassinets; when the baby is old enough to roll, you move them. It's not that expensive.
