Okay I need opinions,thoughts, idea's..??
I went for the Parent/teacher conference for Teddy and they told me he almost never speaks in class...which left me . We had him evaluated at their recommendation and the woman who did it said that he is right on track with his development if not a little advanced. The teacher said he won't say what he wants, he'll just point to it, or take her over to it. This is the same kid who chews my ear off Sat-Sun. The same kid who calls my DH's aunt and talks her ear off about Geo trax. I don't know what to do right now...should I have him evaluated again? Try to talk to him about why he doesn't talk in class? Take him to the ped and work from there? He's not shy by any standard, he's a little stand offish at first but usually a few minutes into it he's okay.

Not so much advice but wanted to say that my friend's son did the SAME thing at school. He is 3 and his teacher actually told my friend she thought he might be autistic because he wasn't verbal at school. So she videotaped him at home to show the teacher that he really does speak, AND A LOT at home. I think eventually he started to feel more comfortable and last I heard he was talking a little more in school. I do know that one way they got him to speak was that he LOVES to sing so they let him sit by the radio sometimes and would put on songs he loved and he would sit there and sing quietly.

I would maybe take him to a psychologist. There could be something school related causing some kind of anxiety. Ive had selective mute students ( not saying teddy is) who speak at home but refuse in school. Ive seem videos of my students at home behaving and speaking normal and will not speak hardly a word in school. It is best to see what is going on early on before it becomes a bigger issue.
