flowers that do WELL with tons of sun?
my house faces west so the front of my home gets POUNDED with sun in the late morning, afternoon, early evening etc.
my plants are not fairing well (petunias, impatients etc)...
any flowers that do really well with a TON of sun?

My house faces west too and we planted marigolds last summer. They did really well.

I am surprised your Petunias are not faring well. Usually those are pretty heat tolerant. You do have to water them daily though.
I was also going to suggest Marigolds. They have a breed now that have a very large flower head that is really pretty. They almost look like Dahlias!

maybe too much water? with all the rain, they looked awful this am  i hope they perk up!

Vincas, they are made for full sun..had them last year and they grew beautifully

Marigolds are great for full sun; as well as Geraniums

For perennials: lavender, black eyed susans, roses, peonies...
For annuals: petunias (don't know why they're not doing well for you in the sun), verbena, geraniums.

Petunias and geraniums. I have full sun and they are the only flower that last here.

I was about to say the same...
My front yard gets a LOT of sun and my petunias have quadrupled in size since I planted them. They do really well! I don't water them everyday, though. I'll only water when I see that they need it, but it's been rare with all the rain we've been getting!
