Disney in October/November
We are planning a trip to Disney October 27th - November 3rd.
Is that a good time to go? Any suggestions.
Thank you!

My favorite time to go!! Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party AND the Food & Wine Festival! We usually always go this time of year. It's not too crowded, the weather's nice, it's perfect!

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will sell out so you'll want to buy your tickets in advance! The weather's usually warm but not ridiculously hot, the Halloween Party + Food & Wine Festival makes for great events, and prices are reasonable. Sounds like a plan!

ITA!! We went a few years ago and did the MNSSHP. We got our tickets at the Poly while we were there because we went end of Sept early Oct and there isn't as great a demand earlier in the month but the Cast member we were speaking with told us that she buys her tickets for Halloween night as soon as they are released because they usually sell out months in advance. I would try to pick the night you want to go now and get your tickets. But I agree it is a great time to go! You will get a slightly larger crowd for Halloween and with the food and wine festival which is also fun- but I would definitely go that time if I could work it.

GREAT time to go! We're going 2 weeks before that! MNSSHP will sell out that week, so definitely order in advance!
It's still warm, but not usually super hot, crowds are decent, and you should be able to get a good rate when deals come out, Awesome time!

GREAT time! We usually go in late November for my bday and the parks are EMPTY. It's still usually 60s-70s so it's warm without being hot. Enjoy it!

It looks as though this year they expect that week after Thanksgiving/beginning of December timeframe to be busy as it's not included in any private PIN offers, but Thanksgiving is.
We're waiting to see what might happen with a public offer but the dates are usually pretty similar.

Wait so you are saying that the week that includes Thanksgiving has discounts out - but the week after Thanksgiving doesn't and is expected to be busy? Does this mean that maybe the Sunday before Thanksgiving and then leaving say the day or two after might be less crowded than going right after thanksgiving? I have never looked into this time frame before. Wonder if it is worth looking into for the future - say going the Sat before Thanksgiving and then staying until the day after Thanksgiving. Would you say the crowds are lower than say if you went Feb break or spring break? When does MVMCP start? Are they decorated for Christmas right before Thanksgiving? I went one year beginning of January and and the decorations were beautiful that we said someday we would try to go back - but I am scared to try Christmas break as I hear the parks close to capacity every year.

I've never suggested Thanksgiving before because of the crowd levels but Disney marketing knows more than I do about how their resorts are booking right now so something is up! I'll be in WDW in 9 days for an invitation-only training/conference so I hope to know more.
WDW decorates for Christmas within a few days after the last Halloween Party. MVMCP begins November 9th this year and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ends November 2nd so that week they (Disney decorating team) will be REALLY busy! The big Christmas tree in the circle as soon as you enter Magic Kingdom won't be up until after the Christmas Parade taping (usually the first Thurs-Sat in Dec) but everything else will be long ready by Thanksgiving!

Wait, I'm confused.
Why would it be so busy between the end of MNSSHP and MVMCP?

Sorry for the confusion! I meant Disney will be really busy getting prepared, not crowd level!

Re: Disney in October/November
In the past we've done the week right after Thanksgiving and the week after that. The week right after Thanksgiving was a bit crowded at first but after T-day weekend it emptied out. This is going back to 2007 though. Last year we did the week after (first full week of December) and it wasn't bad. It was Pop Warner, so availabiliy at the Values was limited and it was a Free Dining blackout (no free dining), but we didn't find it really impacted our trip. I prefer to go AFTER Thanksgiving because I want to be there for Candlelight Processional. When we went the later week we were able to avoid the Christmas taping (by 1 day), and were able to see the tree at MK.
Disney does base their discounts on expected crowds, so if dates are blacked out there is a reason. I didn't even realize I was going for Pop Warner week last year until I saw it was a blackout on the Free Dining Promotion and that alerted me something was up. The shift in weeks around Thanksgiving means maybe there's an event, or they are booking up for certain weeks over others. A blackout date should always be a red flag that they're expecting crowds. We were fine during the first week of December though even though it was Pop Warner, reunion weekend, etc.
Also, even in previous years when it was blacked out, I would still say Thanksgiving is one of the better times to go if you have to go during a school vacation week. It's crowded, but it's nothing like Christmas and Easter week.

There's a PIN out right now for fall free dining so we all have our fingers crossed! I have a LONG list of clients waiting to know more.

I Just got my pin number in mail, and started pricing the deals. $3,436 for family of 4 Nov. 10-17th Includes, Flight, transfers, hotel (port orleans riverside), and 5 day park magic your way tickets, and Dining deal. Not a terrible deal.
