Please give me your opinion…good or bad…anything you would add…anything you would leave off? I left off hamburgers because they are too time consuming on the grill.

The theme is Yankee Baseball and its in my backyard in June
Appetizers:
Popcorn in little bags
Cracker jacks
Big hot pretzels
Peanuts
Sunflower seeds
Cotton candy
Some big league chew on the table (although not an appetizer lol)

Main dish
Sausage & Peppers
Pulled Pork Sliders
Chicken with peppers and onions in lemon juice
Pineapple chicken kebabs
Hot Dogs
Chili

Sides:
Tri color pasta salad
Green salad
Corn on the cob
Mediterranean pasta salad (olives, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese in red wine vinegar/oil/Dijon)
Pickles
Veggie salad (cut up assorted veggies, cubed mozzarella and pepperoni in Italian dressing)

Dessert:
Birthday cake
Fruit salad
Ice cream sandwiches
Drumstick ice cream cones

Drinks:
Soda/water/beer/juice boxes/coffee

My only thought is that the chicken is too similar to the sausage and peppers. Maybe prepare the chicken differenty?

The menu RULES but I have to say I would definitely add burgers. It's such a staple for a BBQ. Everything else looks amazing though!

Re: Xpost: Can you critique my 1st birthday menu?

i didnt want to do burgers because then someone has to man the grill and keep an eye on them to flip them and put cheese on them where the hot dogs arent as much maintenance. i dont want my husband or i stuck at the grill as oppose to enjoying our sons party.

for the sides i would add french fries (they have tons of frozen ones you can just pop in the oven and then put in the warmer trays) because that is my favorite baseball food.

And, the cotton candy should be a dessert rather than an appetizer in my opinion. I know children and even some adults who would load up on that and not even want dinner because they ate so much of it.

Sounds great!

Most of my thoughts were mentioned. I would change up the chicken to make it different than the sausage and peppers. I'd probably just pick different veggies to go in the dish than peppers. Also, I'm sure some parents would appreciate the cotton candy being served after dinner since that is so hard to resist!

As for burgers, I totally agree that they are a pain to grill for a big party. I don't see a big deal skipping them. I would think of adding something more kid friendly that's easy though for those that don't eat hot dogs and are picky. I would probably do chicken nuggets for them.

I think it sounds great - I would add burgers if you can. Is there someone that can help with that like dad or brother? If not then I might consider a cooked pasta dish maybe something easy like a baked ziti or something. Otherwise, my mouth is watering just looking at that Chat Icon

You could do chicken wings. A friend of mine made honey marinated chicken wings for a BBQ last year they were Delish

Re: Xpost: Can you critique my 1st birthday menu?

LOVE IT!

It really is a LOT of food and you shouldn't need a single thing more. You have something for every palate.. BUTTTTTTTTTTTT... I would add burgers because people expect them and they are safe.. you can do sliders in the oven - make the patties and throw them in the oven for 10 minutes.. no flipping, no fussing and no manning the grill.

I agree that the sausage and peppers is very similar to the chicken, but I don't think it is a problem and repeating use of the peppers is probably easy for you relative to prep/cooking. If you decide to change it up I think a simple BBQ chicken is probably a safe route.

Sounds like an amazing time!
