OPK questions
I'm using OPKs this month (my first month off BC) to see when I ovulate. For my first pregnancy I used to ovulate like clockwork on CD13 and I used the smiley face OPKs to figure it out. Well, here I am on CD16 and I don't think I did yet. My temps haven't risen and I am not getting a surge on the OPK. Here's the thing: I'm using the cheapie OPKs this time. I started testing on CD10 and got no line. Each day the line is progressively getting darker except for the last few days the line has appeared the same- it's there but not as dark as the control line. Should I be concerned that the line has appeared the same for so many days? I knew that coming off BC was going to make my cycles a little weird, but I hate this not knowing. What has been your experience with the OPKs? For those that have tested multiple days too, how many days before the line being as dark as the control line have you been able to see your line? TIA ladies!

what i've noticed (always use cheapies and then confirm with CBE smile tests) is that I always have some sort of line and but it doesn't really build, just BAM one day, positive. I would test everyday with FMU and at 5pm (when tests are always the darkest for me) so I didn't miss my surge. Sometimes it can be as short as 12 hours.
Once I got what I thought was positive, I used CBE to confirm. Keep testing!!

It's possible you might not ovulate your first month off of bcps. It's also possible it might take longer to ovuate since your body isn't used to it. I'd give it 3 months. If you're still not getting +OPKs then talk to your dr.
Also, for next month you may want to pick up a box of the smiley OPKs. They're more expensive so start with the cheapies. Then when the line starts to get dark, use the smileys so there's no guessing work involved. Good luck!

This is exactly what I did since it was my first time using OPK's. And good thing because I wouldn't have been exactly sure if I didn't have the  to confirm.

Thanks for the replies ladies! That is such a good idea to use the cheapies plus the to confirm. I think I'll go to the store tomorrow to pick those up. I am praying I'm not one of the women who has to go months before she starts ovulating after BC. I know it's a possibility but I'm really hoping it's not me.  I have EWCM which I usually get around O time so I'm hoping this is the week for me!!
