FYI Baby Center sells your info

Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to give you a heads up. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Baby Center about different companies I could register for to sign up for coupons and deals. Well since I have done that I have had non stop phone calls from all these different companies that have NOTHING to do with babies or pregnancy (ie continuing education) so Baby Center sold my info and some how they got my phone number. I am so livid. I put in a complaint on the website and called their location in CA. I know those complaints are fruitless and I once again put my # on the Do Not Call Reg but I am so P.O.'d that Baby Center would do that!!!!!!!!! Re: FYI Baby Center sells your info

I have been using baby center for a year now and never had a problem. But I also never signed up for coupons or anything like that so I'm pretty sure that is the reason you are getting spam now. Once you say OK to coupons or other e-mails, the people who the coupons are for, they get access (because you gave them permission) and then THOSE partners/businesses sell your information.

I have never received any mail or gotten any unwanted calls. They even say they do not sell your information on their FAQ on the website. But they do mention that you should always uncheck boxes for newsletters or e-mails if you don't want them and the special offers are options (some of which you chose to sign up for) and then those are from their partners/other businesses. At that point, babycenter has your permission to pass it on to those people and then those people can do whatever they want with your information. You basically started a chain reaction.

I would just filter out the spam e-mails and anytime you get a call ask the person to be removed from their list and to stop calling. In time, it will slow down.

This is exactly why I uncheck stuff so I don't get spammed. You should be able to log into your account and not allow it anymore. Unfortunately you will have to tell each company that has called you to remove you from their list.
